I find it interesting that PM (Peckham garage) was once described as a "poison chalice" back in 2004 when it lost a lot of routes. It has probably had the most stable amount of work for the past decade and a half out of the Go-Ahead London garages with all of its routes constantly being retained. With the route 63 being tendered this year, I'm pretty sure they will keep their retaining streak up. Probably explains why the 37 moved in from SW in 2004 to balance out that loss of work you mention I don't know who thought of PM as a "poisoned chalice". They had won London Bus Garage of the Year just before losing the 381 and P13. Perhaps it was the award that was considered to be a poisoned chalice rather than the garage!
Moving the 37 in from SW allowed Q's share of the 188 to move into SW, ending dual-garage operation on that route. So it was Q who bore the brunt of the losses; at the time it was said that this would help make room for the bendies that were about to take over the 12. Although soon afterwards they managed to squeeze in the entire 68 group, so they can't have been that short of space.

Yes it was the award itself that was the poisoned chalice as PM lost a large chunk of their allocation shortly afterwards.

It wasn't a good period for Q as they also had to contend with a shortage of double deckers as well which led to numerous appearances of LDP's particularly on the 45

Hopefully wvl238 comes out of hiding before it departs. I'm glad all the old buses have survived so long but it sounds like the end of their London service when the 405 is lost. Even I won't be expecting a comeback after that

Even I won't be expecting a comeback after that I am surprised aswell and glad hopefully before the 405 is lost I will try and get them. But would have liked the remaining VLAs at DX coming back to have one last ride on them that's the way it's got to be. 😢
