So two things I would to ask is this The first is how long will those WVNs remain on the 473 as I do like them buses thrashing it through Silvertown and Plaistow. The second one is where the HECK are those buses for the 358. This goalpost moving has become too much now. I do hope it doesn't become too old in technology terms for when it enters service. The WVNs are popular with some here but I personally think they look knackered! I will be glad to see the back of them! If electrics are a long way off I hope Go Ahead draft in some hybrids from elsewhere as they become available! The 473 looks like the poor relative against the 262.
The last target date for the 358 was August but don't think they gave the exact year

I agree, an extension to LCY would be excellent. Maybe I'm pushing it a bit too far, but I'd be tempted to send it onwards to Custom House - this would have the added benefit of providing a direct link between the SL2 and SL3, using the Elizabeth Line between Custom House and Abbey Wood. There is no suitable place to turn the SL2 at Custom House. Also being local I can assure you the area is really over bussed especially along Victoria Dock Road! Of all the buses that are busy is the 147 which was the established route before the recent changes. The 304 picks up a decent amount of passengers as that's another alternative to the 147 via different route to East Ham. I would be against yet another route from the Beckton area.
As for the other comment about the SL2 to the airport as I have said before there is already 2 routes from North Woolwich is there a need for a third? have passengers lost the ability to change buses? was this not the whole point of the hopper fare? I find the comment laughable saying the travel time is minimal when all it takes is a slight hiccup on the ferry for the area to come to a standstill. I would say it would add at least 10 minutes to the running time in the peaks for an extension to the airport.
I await my reply being picked to bits and my local knowledge being totally disregarded or twisted.
Where does a hiccup on the ferry provide an issue for this new route? Any hiccup would affect the existing route as it is so wouldn't impact an extended one any differently.

The WVN's have seen better days and I think enthusiasts tend to like them because many of them have a decent turn of speed. As for the 358, who knows? I know someone who works at MB and he doesn't know or whether any problems are related to the vehicles themselves or the charging equipment.

It’s clearly not the vehicles as many of them have been spotted out training. I did see a rumour that some were meant to be out last weekend but obviously it amounted to nothing. My biggest question is whether all this work will have gone in for TfL to award the contract to some other company or does it have a new 5 year contract starting the day the EVs start?

My advice is get them sooner rather than later. I rode one on the 262 and it was a good ride (opted for E110 on the 473 so a WVN is still outstanding for me) No idea on when they’re going into service. I saw one at Orpington charging yesterday, was nice to see that charger actually in use now

But why should they go into the trouble of removing blinds and transferring buses when the WVNs are just as compliant? The route doesn't go into the ULEZ so there's no massive priority.

As others have said, those WVNs aren't bad at all, but regardless of anyone's personal opinions on them, there are plenty of other buses that GAL should prioritise getting rid of before those WVNs - for example the DOEs on the 151, which are in a very poor condition with some of them physically falling apart.

As others have said, those WVNs aren't bad at all, but regardless of anyone's personal opinions on them, there are plenty of other buses that GAL should prioritise getting rid of before those WVNs - for example the DOEs on the 151, which are in a very poor condition with some of them physically falling apart. I absolutely love the DOEs but they cant stick around forever sadly! I think the main reason GAL have decided to keep them and not replace them by other diesels or hybrids is simply because theres no need to. They have already been running on the route for years so I get why they wouldnt go to the hassle of introducing another bus type to the garage temporarily when DOEs have been able to carry on till now.

I agree the WVNs/WVLs are still good runners despite their more tatty appearance in their swansong days on TfL routes. Excellent ride quality on them I always find.

My itinerary for the morning of September 28th will include route SL7. If this materialises, Sutton will have overtaken Harrow (from Easter Monday) in providing my first Superloop ride. I so preferred my BCE route to be on route 183, but as that was from Pinner, neither route SL10 nor SL9 was convenient.
I have seen route SL8 on my visits to my brother's flat but shunned it every time.
