GAL currently have a TVR of around 2000, and if you take away all of their LTs (which will not deconvert before 2026), existing electrics, route losses, the BD11 order and all 9m routes (since Wright don't offer this option), that leaves a TVR of around 1000. If the figure of 800 buses for London is correct, then that actually isn't too far away from being a full fleet replacement in the next 3 years for GAL, which would go a long way to fully electrifying London for the 2030 target! They’ll still choose ADL for routes which use buses less than 9 metres, for the E100 I’d imagine. Now that they’ve ordered a first batch of E100EV’s and depending on how they find them I can almost certainly see them being ordered for routes such as the 434, R5 and R10 if they are retained. I don’t think Wright would develop a 9.0m Kite but it would be good if they did. Something that’s not a Streetlite electric would do nicely from them, whilst the Kite has technically become the “electric alternative “ of the Streetlite in terms of product offering. I think a Kite shorter than 9 metres in terms of look would be awful, they are already very tall with the batteries and stuff on the top and having them even shorter would look strange. However, given Go Ahead's recent order of the BD11, and if Wright were to produce them, then I don't see what's stopping them from ever entering service on London routes!

I am pleased the recent BYD order seemed to only be a stop gap with this Wright announcement.

To be fair though there is still no word on exactly how many GAL have ordered. I suspect a second batch will be confirmed soon for the 129/131 etc with the Wright vehicles only coming for contracts starting in 2025.

I wonder how high up this went to prevent BYD integrals from getting a foothold in the market? Perhaps up to Haigh? Goes hand in hand with the UK Bus Manufacturing Expert Panel they also announced yesterday.

I don't think this is to do with the BYD orders - I suspect simply to politically capitalise on it being such a big commitment to UK manufacturing, especially as this private investment has been backed up by public sector investment (TfL orders, ZEBRA2 money)

First it’s Taylor Swift getting a supposedly government forced police escort, next it’s major subsidies for a private company ordering new vehicles. Anything is possible really with these latest charlatans…

It is not like she has not got or can not afford her own security. Looks like free ticket perks for organising it. So should everyone that has had threats made against them get police escorts?

I saw WHV27 sitting in traffic today and the bus kept randomly and slightly annoyingly revving as if it was accelerating whilst completely still, I’ve never noticed this anywhere else within the 280’s batch.

I know it’s getting annoying but once the 321 gets the EBDs, where will the 321’s current allocations go (61/12 platesEs, 61 plate EHs & MHV55/86) once NX receive them, including WHV50?
