Seems like these idiots have now targeted me.
Someone decided to register theirselves as me on another forum using my email and a made up password (brixton159). Thankfully, I've managed to get the account deleted and now as a result, I've told that forum that if anyone is using my email address to register an account, don't accept that person. I've now also hidden my email address so anyone else with similar ideas can't do the same.
I thought I put this up incase they try to target anyone else.

I am becoming more and more convinced that the culprit(s) for ALL the evils afflicting this forum and some of its members are coming from within! I know for a fact that the little crowd associated with Tom Farooqi and his 'forum' (most banned from here and elsewhere) seem to be harvesting IP addresses and either sending e-mails imploring the person to join his nastly little forum, or perhaps also for more sinister purposes!

All these recent hackings are obviously linked, it seems that they might be wanting to take revenge or something. I think that we need to raise the bar on security (i.e. make the forum for member access only).

All these recent hackings are obviously linked, it seems that they might be wanting to take revenge or something. Since they haven't a brain cell between them, I can only assume it is a form of jealousy. It is interesting to observe that when some of their stupidities are called into question, the resulting abuse, both in method and presentation is borrowed, even copied, from similar incidents many months previously, often on other forums! Originality is obviously NOT their forte, but they are now becoming a tad more than a nuisance!

theyaare just kids , who mess around , don't worry we are more better them! If only it were that simple. Well, they have now gone too far, if they play with the big boys and get hurt, they should remember that they WERE warned! Make sure you pass it on to your mates 221!

All these recent hackings are obviously linked, it seems that they might be wanting to take revenge or something. I think that we need to raise the bar on security (i.e. make the forum for member access only). That is generally a good idea. This place should be a 'members only' forum. I remember receiving a PM to join toms forum a few months ago, joined only to delete my account after five minutes as it was basically a 'kiddies' chatroom in my eyes, with smileys all over the place and the posts were just utter crap. Not pointing any fingers, but there may be one or two members here whos presence on this forum is to rip off information contained here and pass it on over there for its own benefit, as I remember seeing one of my posts there which was duplicated from here by one of their members. Something has to be done ASAP before it gets any worse!

Well a while ago we hid all forum posts (except those in the General Discussion board) to non-members. It now means that anyone who wants to read all the other posts on our forum now have to be logged in or otherwise sign up. Let's just say we are keeping an eye on their forum Oh yes One more thing guys - because of all this hacking business that's been going on lately, it might be a wise idea to review the passwords that you use to log in and choose a stronger one (if you haven't done so already). Generally a very strong password would consist of mixed upper/lower case and numbers, and (if you can) symbols like # or _. It would also be advisable to change your password periodically, like for example every 3-4 months or so. Obviously make sure the password you choose is one you remember It's a good practice to get into to ensure your account is secure, not just on here, but also on any other forums or internet services you may use. Additionally many schools and IT departments in organisations include this in their policy - I know my old university were really strict on this sort of thing.

I know my university forces you to change it every term and won't allow you to use the same password within 12 months either.
As has been said, the best advice we can offer at the moment is to safeguard your account via passwords etc. I personally don't think making the place a members only forum is the way forward. There are many people out there that can add to this forum, as many of us have done over the past 5 years that this place has been up.
Plus, let's be fair, those attacking the place must have a low maturity level otherwise they wouldn't be doing this, it's as simple as that. However, credit where credit is due, a number of our "younger" members on here have definately started contributing alot more in a more mature way. So, my thanks go to OmnicityLondon and MCV Kid. For any new members, these are the guys you need to look to for how to settle in ;D

These two new members exemplify all that is good in a new member, they are observant themselves, they add original comments, they ask sensible questions politely if they do not know themselves, and they are open to correction should it be necessary, without taking umbrage or displaying 'attitude'. Finally, they always thank those who do help or assist them. Well done!
