I also find people shouting very annoying. I was on the Central Line and two groups of essex girls (you know...the orange 'oh my god' types) started talking to each other about when they are going to get p*ssed, the problem was they on both ends of the carriage, so were basically shouting at each other. Essex girls are incredibly thick, so they dont realise that if they walk to the other side they dont have to shout.
Also, wherever i go, tube or bus, there is nearly always someone shouting down their phone for about half an hour.

And while im at it... ;D Do priority seats exist anymore? I was on the Central line and it was quite busy, and this elderly man got on who had crutches, and really looked liked he could do with a seat. nobody even noticed him, so i offered him my seat which was right in the middle. Anyway, it caused the man to nearly trip over twice and he was quite embarrased about it And another time Im in a priority seat, and an elderly person got on so i offered her my seat, only for some chav to steal it. When i confronted him all i got was a ''F**k off mate, im sitting ere'' or something like that..... Luckily someone else offered her a seat

Luckily someone else offered her a seat They certainly do on the Central Line, there are about four per car IIRC. But as you say, the majority of people sitting on them DO NOT relinquish them, and those that do often suffer the greed of the idiot whom you described.

Luckily someone else offered her a seat I always kindly offer my seat to an elderly person, but what you just described there was utterly outrageous. There's another issue that I'd like to discuss, but it'll involve some potentially (or shall I say slightly) offensive language. Does anyone mind at all? Or shall I just cut them out?

Other than staring, I also find random touching rather irritating. It didn't happen not once but twice. The first time happened on the Victoria line last month. Just as I was getting out of the way to let people on and off the train at Oxford Circus, this Indian bloke right beside tried to force me with his index finger while I moved 3 feet away from the doors. As a result, I swung my shoulder awy, turned around and shouted 'GET OFF ME, YOU PAEDOPHILE!!' The whole carriage literally jumped and scowled at that bloke, while I staggered to the opposite side. The second incident happened yesterday at Walthamstow bus station. I was waiting at stop C for a 257. All of a sudden, I felt a hand on the right side of my back trying force me out onto the path of an incoming 69 bus. I reacted in half a second by swinging around and yelled 'DON'T YOU DARE DO THAT!! DIDN'T YOU KNOW THAT YOU ALMOST GOT ME KILLED THERE?' Once I've turned around to see who did that, I've realised it was an old Indian man and he looked absolutely shaken. I was thinking to myself at that very moment 'am I really being to harsh?' Have people lost the will to say 'excuse me' these days? I'm sure that women would define this as sexual harassment, when such scenarios would happen.

Now onto the more positive side of things, there was an observation last Saturday that's rarely seen on London's buses. I was on the 281 towards Hounslow at around 5-ish. As my bus approached Twickenham Stadium, I've seen dozens of smartly-dressed people forming an orderly queue at the bus stop. There isn't a rugby match in the stadium at the time but there appears to be some other event being held there. But as they boarded the bus, I was absolutely surprised by the lack of rowdiness (even the children were well-behaved). Throughout the journey to Hounslow, all I've experienced was the sound of delightful conversations and tranquilty (no loud music, no loud phone calls etc...). I must say that the behavior that these people have shown was impressive; I think that we need more of this!

There were very few police around too (only to control the traffic).

I forgot to add that there wasn't just a couple of dozen at the bus stop, but there were thousands of them pouring out of the stadium. Does anyone from Twickenham/ Hounslow know something about this?

Have you ever seen the Mormons when they get going? Made the mistake of going for a walk in Salt Lake City, Ut some years ago! If there were LOTS of them it DOES seem that they were on some sort of bible-bash get together. Hallelujah! ;D

The thing is that they're are not as diverse as those lot that I've described earlier. Maybe dave6202uk or snowman would know something.

Problem is in communities such as the one the (not so)gentleman you describe here is from is that they have "Elders" - problem is they forget the rest of us don't and unfortunately what you ultimately get is normal behaviour (for them anyway).
