Is it just me who feels like no bus has any form of heat regulation when it is needed? Recently I used the 436 and there was cold air being blasted onto my head in jacket weather yet over this week every bus has been overcrowded and overheating, along with endless traffic extending the humid rainforest experience of AL's fleet. I have not had any terrible experiences yet. I have found the EV types on the 69 for example good and even the hybrids on the 56 good. The two things that have annoyed me. Buses with heaters on that cant be turned off. A couple of times this has happened on the 158 which otherwise is not bad. Buses with issues should not be in service. The other thing is coming on a bus early in the day where the windows are all closed because it has recently come out of the garage. It takes time for people to realise and open them up and by the time that happens you have lost the opportunity to drop the temperature of the bus to a lower point before it inevitable increases. I very much doubt the heaters were on the 158. None of the DW or HV would bring heating on if the weather is warm or even mild. It would only come on if outside is around 10 degrees and the interior is lower than 16 degrees celcious. That is how the HEVAC system works. It would feel as though the heaters are on, on a warm or roasting day if there is no refrigerant, because simply it would be blowing standard air from outside. The vent intakes for the blower motor is on the nearside and offside just below the rear upper deck seats.

I may be late on this but I noticed the lights on the upper deck of my 56 were automatically turning on and off based on how dark the surrounding area was. It was sunny in the morning commute but every time the bus was surrounded by trees or went into darkness, the lights came on and then went off again. I hope this is new otherwise I am going to question my sanity and why I have not noticed it before All the E400 from the 10xxx upwards series have the auto lights feature Most drivers tend not to bother with the auto function and just use the normal on and off.

It's almost been a year and the 414 in hindsight was such a nice route. Everyone hated on it but the views were amazing and the journey times were very quick and enjoyable on weekend mornings, plus the diesels were perfect for the route. Such a shame that it became a dud and that the ADHs are so boring.

Something that was needed but should have been withdrawn as soon as passenger numbers started to dwindle.

The schools are closed and I have immediately noticed an increase in roadworks/temporary lights. My 56 route has gone from a quick, reliable service to a nightmare. Not sure if schools closing/holidays is a link but I recall that being a strategy for previous line closures (Vic line a few years ago if I recall).
Anyway, on the bus strategy I liked the mention of handling roadworks better. One issue for me is the traffic lights timings particularly how suddenly a two way traffic light system becomes the longest 4 -way traffic light system.
Additionally, the one near Essex station, seems like they are working on such a small area that could have coped with things running normally but suddenly a whole section is closed off a section because it is probably unsafe.
Anyway, frustrating.

Anyway, frustrating. There needs to be something done about these roadwork companies in London causing unnecessary delays. Temporary traffic lights should only be used as a last resort, they almost always offer bad phasing and this then causes many people to break red lights. Even worse when the batteries are low and they then show on red in all directions. I have seen them used on roads that are wide enough to have 3 way traffic even with the roadworks, this is simply ridiculous and could easily be coned off into lanes or otherwise. I am beginning to wonder if some of these companies are profiting from using these pathetic temporary traffic lights.

Anyway, frustrating. It's also awful when when routes are diverted onto side roads and the traffic light systems are completely imbalanced. About a month ago Chiswick High Road was slightly closed near Kew Bridge and there was a massive queue to turn onto Ealing Road to get onto Great West Road and go around to get into Chiswick. The right turn light lasted 10 seconds barely and hardly any traffic was able to pass. Meanwhile not a single car tried to go straight and the 235/267 were diverted around Great West Road but that light was green for ages because that's where the traffic flow usually goes.

A company official told me that the rules for temporary lights had changed in recent years and (surprise, surprise) health and safety plays a much stronger part in their placement. There are all manners of situations I’ve seen recently where temporary lights are in place where they wouldn’t have been five years ago. It’s the world we live in sadly. I had to contend with five different sets of lights on the 246 yesterday. It meant I negotiated a set of temporary lights, on average, every 12 minutes yesterday!

There’s some minor roadworks going on near Ossulton Way in East Finchley and there has been 1 set of temporary traffic lights put in with all crossing having these temporary wait screens with buttons to press to wait etc. Turns out the red man never actually changes to a green man and there is no way to indicate when to actually cross, absolutely shambolic
