It's seriously becoming a mess. I slyly miss the days when it was a closed community. It wasn’t exactly brilliant then either - all what’s happened is the demographic causing the issues has shifted from the older lot to the younger ones. Going to these events a lot, you tend to work out which youngsters are the ones who cause problems and which are not because it is a minority who are a real nuisance. Some of the ones misbehaving at Grinstead are repeat offenders and so I’ve learn to just avoid being near for peace and sanity but we need to be careful about demonising all with the same brush as there were plenty there who behaved themselves on Sunday. When MB open day was on last year it wasn’t too bad It was also nice to catch up with you there as well. A bus got damaged which was a shame.

So this may sound very controversial for what I'm about to say but I'm standing on this business. I like the fact that we have young enthusiasts taking a liking into buses but I cannot lie they're some that are seriously giving bus enthusiasts a bad name. Some YouTube videos I see I'm literally shaking my head like what are you doing. On Sunday as good as the event was there were some overly excited young folks trying to push on the bus acting uncivilised as in to say their parents didn't raise them right. Like calm the fcxk down. I wouldn't be surprised if some are on here. (Again I'm not here to pxssyfoot your egos, so if the shoe fits that's your business not mine, take it up with your forefathers). Back to the young enthusiasts you really need to chill and some love to use certain things as an excuse for why they are the way they are. I'll say this. The world doesn't care and will deal with you accordingly so act right please. In time they'll learn Couldn’t agree more! I don’t go to many events but some of the behaviour at Barking garage back in March was embarrassing especially outside the main entrance. A Dxmn shame

They get so out of control at times, like at first days they fight just for a seat which can’t they just wait for the next bus!! I get frustrated at times to the point I barely attend first days and last days and haven’t attended an open day yet! Plus some enthusiasts don’t respect others opinions these days as well, particularly with hybrids and electrics!

It's been reported elsewhere that the driver had a medical episode and has since recovered

I understand and of course those ones really do ruin it for the younger generation who are genuinely polite and respectful as well as the community as a whole

I remember when I did the SL1 on its first day, there was a kid on the same bus as me who got so overexicted on the fact it went over the flyovers and underpasses unlike the 34 does and then compalined at me on why I have went downstairs to get away from him and his friends, which then peeved me off. At least I have managed to know who they are and to add on my avoid list ever since.

From what I've heard through various people, it seems to be the younger enthusiasts mainly seem to be the root of all these problems at all these events. I've heard of enthusiasts on the SL2s first day actually pushing people out the way just to nab the front seat to get a route visual. I wonder how many non enthusiasts made up passengers on the SL2 on its first day... Was going through some of the Brooklands photos and happened to notice one of the Brentford VWHs in attendance. Zooming in, I then happened to notice a lock on the front handle bars of the front door of the VWH. I assume this was Tommy Cooling as a similar bus was then photographed by him at Hatton Cross showing off the N9 blind. It's sad to see that these measures have to be put in place as it is apparently not seen as common sense to some individuals that you cannot just enter someone's bus whenever you please. I wonder how they'd feel if someone entered their home without permission. Also not a fan of some of the people on the Facebook groups who seem to look down on others and post comments in a very sarcastic and rude way.

The consistent insistence to get involved in the business of others is probably what's the most irritating aspect of it all. I remember once upon a time you'd go to the first day of a bus route somewhere and you'd see people taking pictures here and there but you could just do what you want and you could go home with nobody disturbing your peace. Now it's a case of making sure you don't get pushed out of the way to get onto a bus. I think a massive propellor in this is the availability of information to pretty much everyone, so people know what's happening on a bus route from the start to the end and people can keep track of the whereabouts of other enthusiasts and either gang up with them or not. Once upon a time you'd go out blind, not knowing what you'd see and not knowing what would end up being put on a route throughout a day.

Tommy either directly or indirectly has had a bus broken into at an event at Holloway in the past so not surprising to see a lock being used.

Such a shame that happened why even ask question when he was making so much noise. Route SL4 will be interesting on the first day Grove Park will probably be busier than Brixton Station waiting to get the front seats

The makeshift lock was put in place by another ML employee who noticed people letting themselves on the bus. I was considering getting a bike lock for my LDP for Brooklands and Lowish Floor Running Day (during meal break and standby) but luckily this wasn't required on either occasion (well on Sunday this would've been because the bus only made it one rounder before giving up)

They are quite offputting on Tiktok aswell. You’ll see randomly a large majority of younger individuals (not the bus drivers) as enthusiasts often having their own fantasies about bus news and etc . Dismissing things and just putting two and two together. I had a video show up on mine of the two electrics at T no longer on the 20 as they are moving to PD for the 180 and youve got a bunch of ignorant and bad mannered young kids just blabbering about a bunch of vehicles, when all it is a bunch of vehicles. Nothing to get too feisty about, but here we are
