I find the worst ones out of the younger enthusiasts tend to be the those who gather in large groups who all trying to do the same thing for YouTube like full route visuals and vlog style videos.
I remember when I did the SL1 on its first day, there was a kid on the same bus as me who got so overexicted on the fact it went over the flyovers and underpasses unlike the 34 does and then compalined at me on why I have went downstairs to get away from him and his friends, which then peeved me off. At least I have managed to know who they are and to add on my avoid list ever since.
The consistent insistence to get involved in the business of others is probably what's the most irritating aspect of it all. I remember once upon a time you'd go to the first day of a bus route somewhere and you'd see people taking pictures here and there but you could just do what you want and you could go home with nobody disturbing your peace. Now it's a case of making sure you don't get pushed out of the way to get onto a bus. I think a massive propellor in this is the availability of information to pretty much everyone, so people know what's happening on a bus route from the start to the end and people can keep track of the whereabouts of other enthusiasts and either gang up with them or not. Once upon a time you'd go out blind, not knowing what you'd see and not knowing what would end up being put on a route throughout a day. Waiting for 179 at South Woodford towards Barking was always a favourite of mine, you never knew what Grey Green DX had stuck out on the route, and literally anything could come round the corner. I haven't been to any "events" since Showbus was at Duxford, so it must be at least 15 years. Even when I lived down the road from BK I didn't go to the RT event (although I also don't have much of an interest in the older stuff.) There's always been an element of people who are a "bit too keen" to get on vehicles, try and stick something up on the blinds etc. Even back in the late-90s/early-2000s there was a small group of enthusiasts who woild steal blinds out of vehicles at night when they were parked in garages, or stealing the "slip boards" used on rail replacement buses, so it's not really anything new. There was some pretty poor behaviour displayed by some of the Rail enthusiast community on the last day events for the Cl317 and Cl315.

It's certainly not new, though due to social media it's easier for them to get noticed (mostly because they upload it themselves). Back in the day in Hong Kong, it wasn't really widely noticeable unless you were already in the enthusiast circle, unless it made the news for something particularly egregious (theft notably, but other things too).

I cannot believe it was nearly 28 years ago they last had it. I'm really showing my age hahahahah. On a random note I saw a few grey hairs come from my head this week followed with a big sigh. I'm not considered young anymore. I'm still holding on hahahaha. In fact that Saturday 19th October 1996 I was in Ilford on the first day the Dennis Arrows were on the route (NP had it at the time)

A little rant about an area just outside the M25, the village of Sevenoaks. I call it a village as it seems very peaceful and well organised.
I went there today and noticed some very old buses that run infrequently. IIRC there used to be a route hourly to Bromley back in the days? It is a shame that it was axed.
What transport links does Sevenoaks have in general? Is it an ideal place for someone that prefers rural but needs a quick commute into London for work?
Finally, if anyone would know what is the nearest you can reach there with a Nightbus if the last train is finished?
Thanks

Thanks The 402 used to run from Bromley North to Tunbridge Wells hourly using mainly single deckers (double deckers made appearances from time to time). I've done two trip on the full route from Bromley, one on a Plaxton Prestige and one on an Optare Versa. I've also used the 402 in it's current form once with a Gemini B7TL from Tunbridge Wells to Sevenoaks

Thanks Not anymore - there was a 431 from Orpington, Perry Hall Road to Sevenoaks that Go Coach ran for a bit after the 402 was cut back to Dunton Green (using ex Stagecoach London Optare Versas). There is now just a school route that essentially runs via the old 431 routing run by Go Coach from Orpington War Memorial to Sevenoaks. Closest night bus should be whatever night buses pass through Orpington

A link back into Bromley would be most welcomed but the possibility of it happening is slim but not impossible. Imo it is a shame that your left to the Southerneastern railway as the only route into London. I mean even Guildford has the 715 into Kingston & 479 into Epsom with the Coach to Heathrow.

I agree that it's a shame especially as the 431 seemed to be doing ok in replacing the 402, which after being cut back to Dunton Green, has been cut back further since, to Sevenoaks and seems to be a shadow of it's former self even if it's now a double deck route.

Route 268 - I wonder if TfL would consider extending 268, rerouting from Swiss Cottage down Avenue Road, going down St Johns Wood Road, terminating at Warwick Avenue. Not following the 46 or 187, but using alternative roads. Just an idea

Thanks I believe Sevenoaks has one of, if not the, highest levels of car ownership anywhere in the country. I remember the brief spell when Roundabout ran an R6 there from Orpington. Kentish Bus had a decent post-deregulation network but it was one of those places Arriva had no interest in really and it steadily diminished. Nowadays, much of the area is left to Go-Coach's DRT service which does seem to be relatively successful but expensive, using small people carrier type vehicles. Realistically it's poor bus territory with a decent train to nearby towns.

Does anyone here have any knowledge about the Milton Keynes area?
What are the bus services like from around there? What vehicles do they operate with?
Do you have any Hybrid/Electric buses running around?
How far about can you get on one route?

Not following the 46 or 187, but using alternative roads. Just an idea They probably have. To be honest I am not sure there would be much demand, I don't think Avenue Road will give good bus loadings which is why it has never had a bus service. St John's Wood Road might be useful though. The problem is that there is demand to go to Finchley Road and the O2 centre (the current 268 route) which would be left out by such changes.
