A historical question dating back to 2011 - 12 (and apologies if this is the wrong place to ask): I vaguely remember that in 2011-12, the 205 (at least on the way from Paddington to Bow Church) after the Old Street roundabout, went through City Road, South Place, Eldon Street, Blomfield Street, London Wall, Camomile Street, Houndsditch and so on. Subsequently, due to Crossrail works, it was "temporarily" diverted to its current routeing of Old Street, Great Eastern Street, Shoreditch, Bishopsgate and so on and so forth. Does anyone know if there are any plans of going back to the original route, or is this a "permanent" temporary diversion? Assuming that my memory is correct in the first place ... IIRC It was made permanent around the time the current contract started around 2014-2015. Brief exposition: Prior to the Crossrail works, the 205 (and the 100) had an eastbound double run via Liverpool Street Bus Station (westbound they stopped outside the Railway Tavern on Liverpool Street. When Crossrail works started, the 205 was diverted as you mentioned from Blomfield Street direct to London Wall. Initially it and the 100 continued to serve LST eastbound but this was short-lived. At the same time the 133 was diverted away from Moorgate to operate via Old Broad Street & Threadneedle Street (which also since became permanent). Following completion of the Broadgate entrance to Crossrail’s Elizabeth Line, Liverpool Street will be pedestrianised between Old Broad Street / Sun Street Passage and Blomfield Street - so we won’t get that routing back unfortunately. Edit: redexpress - IIRC the 214 will stand on Blomfield Street with the 153 returning to LST bus station. Your memory is correct, the 205 used to run via Moorgate. The diversion via Shoreditch was introduced on 22 July 2013, initially temporarily as you say, but this was officially made permanent on 31 Jan 2015. IIRC there was a consultation on the matter in 2014.
As far as I'm concerned the diversion is a good thing, as it provides useful links to Shoreditch, while the 214 still serves Moorgate (and should return to Liverpool Street at some point in the future).
There's a bit of a quirk with the N205, as this route was introduced in November 2013 and was officially meant to run via Moorgate, but of course the "temporary" diversion was already in place. With the diversion being made permanent, this means the N205 never ran via its original official route.
Thanks to both of you!

Cycling rant - saw a cyclist going very recklessly southbound on bishopsgate using the northbound lane near the junction with London wall. The guy almost hit a lady crossing the road, somehow managed to avoid hitting a couple of cabs waiting to turn right, and again used the northbound lane to head south towards London Bridge. He was lucky that there were no vehicles coming from the other way else it would have been really messy

So one thing that has been brought to my attention recently is the fact that tons of destinations on bus routes have been changed (audio-wise) on buses. Most notably in my area, West Croydon and Addington Village have been changed, as well as Epsom Hospital being changed to Epsom General Hospital* *Personally I think this one is just plain useless. It may still be called to as Epsom General Hospital but practically no one calls it that anymore and what was wrong with the previous Epsom Hospital ones anyway. Besides, even ENL101 with its brand new blinds still just displays "Epsom Hospital" on the front. And once again with the West Croydon and Addington Village announcements, no need for those changes either. I can assure you that nobody has ever sat on a 154 or 466 or whatever and thought you know what, these announcements sound terrible if only they'd re-record them! Coupled to the abysmal new Central Line announcements which have yet again given me another excuse to avoid the 1992TS, I think I'm starting to see a new pattern as to what TFL is spending money saved from cutting everything In sight! What's wrong with the Central Line announcements? all the bits that were replaced were out of date and not giving up to date information on the interchanges. They couldn't use Emma Clarke again as she'd been dismissed so they used Sarah Parnell (by the sounds of it), which helps as their voices sound similar. If anything that was done very cost effectively as they only needed to re-record the bits that needed changing and they didn't need to spend money rescripting the whole line. I imagine the Elizabeth Line interchanges have been recorded ready for December as well.

I’d rather hospitals being named properly in the case of non regular people needing the hospital in question so really I’d have it as Epsom General Hospital. Locals in my area call Kings College Hospital ‘Kings’ - I certainly wouldn’t have that as an announcement. It would also be nice if some announcements actually match the destination blind on certain routes.

In fact its still seen on the blinds of PDL121 as it was strangely swapped out from WOB blinds to YOB blinds a few years ago. It also says West Croydon Bus Station on them too but not Banstead High Street

I think it's right that they've gone back to Epsom General Hospital since that's the name of the hospital - a hospital is of severe importance IMO and the full name should match what the hospital is called.

As if the local traffic wasn't slow enough I've just read in the local council freebie paper that the Council have issued orders to reduce 30mph limits to 20mph and 40mph down to 30mph on all main roads to the south of the A406 in Waltham Forest. That throttles Chingford Rd, Lea Bridge Rd, Woodford New Road, Forest Rd, Palmerston Rd, Hoe St. Cue mass rescheduling of all local bus routes to make them even slower than they already area. That probably also causes an issue for companies who have tendered for Waltham Forest routes that are due for award in the near future (start date March 2019) as the schedules may now be too quick.
The change will probably take place in a few weeks time as there's a 6 week period where people can inspect the orders and make objections to the High Court.

Stupid and pointless, speed doesn't kill, stupidness does, they should increase the speed limits as then people might have to pay more attention to what they are doing, a major problem with the A13 is because everyone knows it's average speed they just set their cruise control to 40/50mph and then forget about their awareness and start checking their phone etc and then end up rear-ending a car that has stopped ahead or even worse a sudden lane change which ends up casing and even worse accident, the majoiry of these accidents I belive would be solved if people were aware of what they are doing

The only issue was where Croydon meets Lambeth on Green Lane - Lambeth controls a very tiny section of Green Lane and given they generally can't find common sense at the town hall, they changed their minute section of Green Lane to 20 so what happens is cars do 30 along Streatham High Road, then have to drop for 20 for about a 500 yard section before crossing into Croydon and doing 30 again - utter madness. Croydon wasn't amused by this and asked Lambeth to alter their speed limit so the whole of Green Lane is 30 but nothing has changed.

Wrong there, cos I have!!! I HATED the West Croydon announcement as it sounded really really unnatural imo: “194..... to..... WEST Croydon”. I despised it and it genuinely was one of my most hated announcements Emma H says, and it’s music to my ears to find theyve changed it! Other destinations and numbers that she says that I hate are:
302 (<- that’s the worst!) 117 207 W5 G1 N5 76 176 283 Chiswick, Edensor Road (it sounds like she’s about to say something else afterwards) Regent Street (same again, they truncated it from another announcement I think) West Croydon (gone now, yay!) Lower Sydenham (sounds like she’s hiccuping as she’s saying it ) Stratford (there’s a huge gap between to... and Stratford) Parliament Hill Fields (they changed that too, there used to be an unnecessary gap between Parliament and Hill) Plumstead Station (it goes “ 53.... to..... PLUMstead Station” really annoying!) Im sure there are more, if I think of them I’ll edit them in.But by far the worse one by a mile was:”Please hold on, the bus is about to move”!!!!!

And as a rider of the 171 its weird to hear such a difference when on the 176...however, it may have been changed when it went to Go Ahead i havent been on it for a while.

Edit: also with the 38 as well, that’s another one I dislike.

Some sound more 'natural' than others i.e. as if a conversation is taking place, as is the case with some of the routes you mentioned. The 16 for example, the 'teen' part of the 16 has a somewhat unfinished tone to it. This topic doesn't bug me much, but it's just a thought. I would personally prefer it if Emma consistently employs a more 'robotic' tone for the iBus

Luckily most announcements though are said in a really nice tone. I’d be here all day listing all the announcements I do like the sound of. 316 and 329 are two of my favourites, it has a really nice tone to them.
