Can't see the thread for it anymore but more meddling at Walthamstow.
Proposal is Selbourne road alighting point to go and all buses into the bus station
Execpt
For 97 and 357 which get new stops on hoe street so no longer serve the bus stop.
Makes sense now i wish they would do that to the 115 at canning town.

Whilst on the 344 last night, someone gets on the bus and spends about five years standing at the front trying to find their Oyster. Driver then spots someone else running for the bus and naturally opens the front door again: "You clipped me with the door, driver, you trapped me, f-ing idiot" except I saw you step away, thus clearly implying you're not trapped Which is then followed up by this gem... "nearly broke my spine" I had to crack up at that one erm, I didn't know MMC front doors carried that much force(!) This same person proceeds to become that one we all hate on the bus, and starts playing crap music through their phone without headphones...

Does anyone have an idea as to why the 65 is such an infuriating route? Every time I travel on it (which is every day from New Road to Cromwell Road bus station) I see at least one instance of bunching without fail. I’m either experiencing it on a bus which is constantly waiting at bus stops or it’s apparent I’m the other direction. What’s even more frustrating is when I hear that dreaded announcement; “the driver has been instructed to wait at this bus stop for a short time to even out the service”. Those horrible Scanias don’t help at all as they vibrate tremendously when idling. As much as I love RATP, they’ve failed so enormously in the 65 and I doubt the route will get any better for the duration of the contract. I am happy to be corrected of course!

The 65 is an incredibly difficult route to run with the horrendous traffic at Kew and the fact it does run mainly on it's own only meeting routes at particular points. The Kingston works probably don't help either. I've long suggested that two routes should shadow either end as it seems to leave people behind regularly from what I hear and have witnessed the busy loadings on Saturdays in the past a number of times.

If I could add to what vjaska said... with respect you should probably do your homework before ranting about a route, and particularly an operator if you are asking why a route is experiencing trouble. Far from RATP having “failed” the route, they’ve done exceptionally well with it given the constraints. Bunching can happen on any route in London nowadays, particularly on a high frequency route, but you yourself gave one such example in that at least they bother to regulate the service. I dare say you’d rather this than constant curtailments? I agree that the Scanias are awful but I’ve never experienced one vibrating to the levels you imply. The eyesore factor is more of concern to me than that 😂

Buses being held at stops to regulate the service is very frustrating although personally I don't mind Scanias apart from the rock hard seating but opinions always vary on bus types. The service has generally seemed ok when I've used the 65 although obviously you've got more first hand experience, Kew Bridge (or Queue Bridge!) is usually the fly in the ointment!

Dear Twobellstogo,
Thanks for your comment. Unfortunately there are no plans for USB charging points or WiFi for this decade due to a shortfall in funding. The Mayor is keen to improve travel across London. We will soon be introducing a raft of improvements to ease congestion by easing the number of buses that have been shown in recent studies to slow down traffic flow. See our website for exciting news regarding Route 48, after sucessfully augmenting the 82 and 13. By diverting money away from our Bus Blind Presentation Fund, we have been able to reduce violent crime across the Capital in order to make your bus journey even safer. Thanks for your continued custom.
Every Journey Matters,
Customer Services Team Is this an extract from Server King News? It's been a long time since the last publication, I was starting to wonder if they stopped printing I haven't done one of those 'headlines' for ages! Though if I'm honest aside from being too busy with work and life ... I fear I'm losing my creative mojo

It normally runs good when I use it and I think RATP do a good job with the route. I can agree that there is excessive bunching sometimes in 3’s or 4’s. But there is much worse routes in London when it comes to regulating and stopping at each stop for a long period.

I am all too familiar with the difficult circumstances, particularly in Richmond, but to have bunching at the beginning of the route is far too common. On Tuesday I was waiting at Kingston Ststion when two buses came within the space of a minute. My friend, who isn’t remotely interested with buses, asked why the company can’t just hold one of the buses back at the terminus? Sometimes we see three or four buses bunched together. I must admit that this is better than constant curtailments, such as what happens on the 111. As for the SPs, they are extremely uncomfortable and I’ve spoken to a few drivers who say they aren’t that great to drive. I’m just glad I got to experience a TA working with a driver who certainly loves them. 😀

Yes the seats aren’t the best for a commute. I don’t know where to start with Kew Bridge, although the traffic has become considerably better since the bridge repair works ended last year. I completely understand that buses are held at stops to regulate and empathise with the drivers as I doubt they want to be stuck. If I’m honest I hope FW gets some ADHs or more VHs as I’m sure the passengers would appreciate the air con and smoother ride, as would the drivers love the better acceleration.

It normally runs good when I use it and I think RATP do a good job with the route. I can agree that there is excessive bunching sometimes in 3’s or 4’s. But there is much worse routes in London when it comes to regulating and stopping at each stop for a long period. The roadworks in Kingston have not been helping. It is not uncommon to see multiple buses towards Kingston queuing in Richmond Road (4-7 buses within half mile not uncommon in afternoon school or evening peak). There desperately needs to be a short turn between Ham and Cromwell Road as this section can take 30 minutes when congested. It would be very easy to use Albany Park Road as an occasional turning loop (it has extra spur from Richmond Road), but I suspect no-one from Palestra has ever ventured to that road. (not really suitable anticlockwise as left turns too tight, but could easily get 11m decker clockwise, starting opposite Durlston Road) One of the problems was that about a decade ago TfL had daft idea of building out kerblines at a couple of bus laybys at stops, the worst being Sandy Lane (Petersham) Southbound. Due to congestion in Richmond and width of road between Richmond and Petersham there is a long length now unsuitable for regulating the service. Consequently the regulation instructions are either deferred a few stops, or they create traffic congestion and more bunching if observed. Kew bridge area is also a mess, it seems like the traffic lights in the area are not optimised very well, and some of the (discontinuous) bus lanes, actually seem to cause traffic blockages so that buses can't reach the bus lanes. Too much piecemeal dabbling over the years without standing back and looking what now happens as problems get moved 100m up the road rather than fixed. There is no easy fix for 65, but the best thing to do would be to add a couple of (unscheduled) extra turns so that recovery from problems can be much quicker and more flexibly done.

Therefore bouncing is often unavoidable. There are many reasons why an Operator May choose not to hold buses and many as to why they regulate. Driver shifts, anticipation of being able to regulate further along past traffic hotspots... this is why it’s unfair to rant against an Operator unless you have evidence to demonstrate they can’t or won’t operate it properly. A few bunching buses on a route affected by traffic outside the operator’s control doesn’t cut it. I don’t think the Scania’s will be lasting that long. Try catch a G3 instead, if you can bear the equally ugly sight of them!

My experiences go back a couple years when I used to work at Kew Gardens for a summer, but I'll give it a crack. Yes, as others have said the 65 is quite a difficult route to run. You'd be hard pressed to find a trunk route which has (what I like to call) solo sections to the extent that the 65 has. I have waited at South Ealing station for a southbound 65 on a Sunday afternoon where there have been no gaps in the service, and packed buses just drive by. At the time, a double decker on a x12 frequency being so full not even into its first mile of service was astonishing to see. It's had its frequency jacked up a tiddle since I last avidly used it; but after my night bussing on the weekend where I did the route south of Richmond for the first time; I have to say that it's totally understandable why there's bunching. A high frequency route serving areas mainly on its own; a hold-up for whatever reason could easily see bunching. To fix the somewhat small problems on the 65, there needs to be other routes to significantly overlap some of its routing to ensure & improve reliability.
