Some routes really have far too much running time.
I was headed for Lewisham Station (to get on the 89), LVF was showing a 225 due at my stop at 16:22 (this is a couple of stops down from Surrey Quays Station, where according to LBR.net it's due at 16:18. Yeah, I doubt it takes that long on a Sunday.) - just to be sure I left home early and sure enough, the bus ran early too. It rocked up at 16:19, 3min early and just 13 minutes after the bus in front had gone through! (I may look at LVF too much ) Most journeys on this route go super slow but this one was just hilarious. My E200 didn't get above second gear even once, we were crawling that slowly trying not to run any more early. Got caught in the traffic in Deptford as always... picked people up at various stops... at no point did we start to go any faster. Despite all that we got into Lewisham 2min before advertised That's right, despite not going above 10mph at any point we only lost one minute, which wasn't even enough to make us run on time let alone being late!
Still, being a Sunday and all, at least the bus didn't smell of chicken Herein is the reason why people won't return to buses when traffic improves unless it goes hand in hand with timetable changes. Pootling along at 10 mph is not going to attract people to the service. I have had way too many journeys like this and I find it incredibly frustrating and reason NOT to travel by bus. You have my sympathy.
As for smelly food on buses, don't get me started on that one!!!!! It should be banned!!!!!

Oh dear the Assembly Members are beginning to get cross about bus service cuts and the consultation process. A quick scan of the latest Mayor's Questions have the RV1, W12, 48, 240, 94, 223, 277, 30, 412, 28, 452, 274 all mentioned for a variety of reasons. So just a few then!
There are also concerns expressed about the Crossrail related changes being postponed, what is happening to a "review" of buses in Croydon and Sutton, bus safety, bus network changes, Hoe St gyratory changes.
Oh jolly dee - about time we saw some political reaction.

Sadly, nothing about the 45 then - Councillor Braithwaite has gone quiet since Kahn gave her a nearly completed green corridor, where is she when there are cuts happening to Lambeth services. Meanwhile, my local assembly member only seems interested in the Bakerloo Line - as important as that is, be nice if attention turned to the here & now.

Well the 45 proposal has yet to be officially published so I'd expect any complaint to happen after that. After all the public can't complaint about something many of them will have no clue about. I am sure that when the plans formally emerge that there will be a lot of reaction.

Apparently TfL aren't required to consult about timetable reductions. I'd certainly consider this a far more important issue than trying to save the remnants of the 45.

Why are you so "cross" about the 468? Is it your local route by any chance? Normally you're happy to swing the axe on everyone's bus service! I agree the lack of consultation is not good but no operator in the country has that obligation. One or two more proactive operators like Go North East do consult their passengers but rarely on timetable cuts. I suspect operators would never want their commercial freedom to cut services removed as it's a key factor in commercial survival in a declining market.

I'm not particularly happy to swing any axe on anything however I do try and take a pragmatic view on things. I happen to know the 468 route quite well and I can't see this being anything other than an unmitigated disaster but we shall see.

Special thanks and a huge thumbs up to the bald driver of DW431 on the 269 that looks like Homer Simpson. At 16.43 you drove past Widmore Road/Kentish Way in Bromley without stopping. You left 21 passengers that were waiting to board your bus not only stranded, but speechless. You looked directly at the crowd of passengers and then looked away. You're bus was near enough empty. There's no excuse for it. If you cannot be bothered to pick up passengers, is it possible that you shouldn't be a bus driver?? Thank you for wasting 15 minutes of my day. You've been reported and I hope some of the other people you made late have done so as well. 😡😤

Some months ago, he refused to take my transfer ticket on the 229... 😶

I wonder if this might have been a genuine mistake by a driver who is not very familiar with the route? You're quite right to report it though so it can be investigated.

If that was done deliberately surely it constitutes gross misconduct? I don't think I've ever known a driver refuse a transfer ticket, most don't even look at them.

I remember one time, on Sunday morning, bus 269 turn up 10 minutes late at 6.34am when it should be 6.24am. He does not bother logging in on ticket machine and he looks bad mood. People were not happy with him for leaving so late from Bromley North because of it only Sunday morning. No idea what is his problem.

Oh dear looks like there is definitely one rogue bus driver at DT given at least three posters can identify him and his poor performance.
