Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh! You're clearly not a happy bunny. Great fiction on the Countdown displays in Woolwich. Buses appear and disappear on the screens without arriving in a physical form. Half hour waits becoming all too common in the evening peak. Way too many standing passengers. SE219 hasn't even got a capacity notice. About time they cut the lightly used section between Greenwich Cutty Sark and Blackheath Village. Too many traffic delays across Blackheath. Only had the route since June. Two schedules so far. Neither any good. MG are running everything terribly. There were 3 buses missing on the 386 the day before yesterday out of 11! Not very good on a low frequency route.

Greenwich Council have announced they are finally going to try and recruit the budgeted number of traffic wardens. Perhaps with better enforcement of the double yellows in Herbert Road it might be possible to use longer vehicles. Mind you the SEs seem to be the unreliable buses. Double decker trial?

A 10.8 was route tested but failed around the Kidbrooke estate. The doubles haven't got blinds and that Kidbrooke estate is very tight.

I certainly don't think it should be cut just because Go Ahead can't run it properly, TfL should be demanding an explanation with a view to terminating the contract if things don't improve. As far as I'm aware we didn't have these problems under Stagecoach?

Hopper fares mean there are quicker ways to get to Greenwich or the Royal Standard, The route has been in trouble ever since it was extended. The original idea was for the 129 to be extended (when it was a single deck route) but the 386 was cheaper.

Stagecoach once put out a long bus one evening (probably by accident). It made it round the estate. It is rumoured that there are only 6 or 8 parking wardens in the whole Greenwich borough.

I agree that section is lightly used, but it provides a unique link so can't see them cutting it any time soon. What would be useful is for it to take a more direct route to Blackheath, possibly using Crooms Hill, the road along the west gate of the park. When you are on the 286, the amount of tourists that ask for if there is a bus going to the top of the hill is unbelievable!

Go Ahead have put out a few 10.8m buses, and SE212 is popular with late drivers, so they often nick it and take it on the 386. It is a bit tight, and it could be a problem if you meet with a van or another bus along Dursley Road. While bus drivers are professionals, a lot of car/van drivers have very little common sense.

The costs must be high and the current round of cuts are hitting routes that are more useful. BTW my journey home tonight was fine. Go Ahead did me proud. The big difference was that I got off the train at Charlton and got on an empty 486.

I would like to share this on here.
Right when I tell friends and people I talk with that I moved to Lewisham from Waltham Forest, I get an "Oh Dear" or "Oh No".
It annoys me that people think that Lewisham is so bad, my mum lived in Lewisham like 30 years ago for about 5 years and she also says it was very rough.
This might sound silly and respect to all views but I think Lewisham is "NOW" better than Waltham Forest. The advantages for myself as an individual is that has less traffic, better roads and the biggest plus is that it has no crappy Mini Helland. I understand that the crime rate is high but it has some very nice parts like Blackheath and Greenwich Park.
Waltham Forest has nice parts like the north end of the borough such as North Chingford and slight part of Woodford.

Thoughts & Views A few things: 1) This probably should be in the off route section of the forum but I'll let others decide that 2) Why do you get annoyed for if people think your area is bad? Being a Brixton resident of 25 going on 26 years now, I can remember when absolutely no one enjoyed visiting and I had so many occasions where people would actually shudder or become frightened if I told them I lived there - they didn't think I was hard or anything but that because Brixton's reputation was so well known, people point blank avoided the place. I had a friend at college who once said to me that when she visited the now gone Red Records shop to pick up tickets, she held her bag extremely tightly the minute she entered Brixton - I didn't get annoyed but instead decided to own it and mess around with her fears much to my enjoyment Guess where she lives now? Nearby Tulse Hill which has seen many stabbings particularly over the last few years I could never care less how people perceive where I live - I'm proud to be a resident of Brixton even if I have called it some less than desirable names on many occasions so my advice is don't waste energy on being annoyed - if people think Lewisham is awful and admittedly, I'm one of them, so what - all that matters is that you are fine living there.

Thoughts & Views Right let me give my thoughts: Firstly I agree with vjaska on his comments you shouldn't get annoyed at people, at the end of the day they are just giving their opinion. Secondly, I agree with you that Lewisham is better than Waltham Forest, as you said better roads and no disaster cycle lanes. However, it's down to personal preference and experience. It also depends on how much an individual gets bothered by cycle lanes taking over bus lanes, I'm one as it is a challenge as a bus driver. Thirdly, as long as you are happier in Lewisham, I'm sure your friends and family will be happy for you. I have been a Waltham Forest resident since 1998, and with all honesty I had similar feelings about the area such as before the council or whomever decided to reck the roads, (correct me if am wrong but the works started a couple of years ago?) I wouldn't of liked to live anywhere else apart from Waltham Forest. Finally and Fourth Comment, Now as 2018, well since the works in WF started I probably hate it as much as you, closed side roads and removal of bus lanes really bother me, but I understand that I have no control over it. So the best advice I can give you is appreciate that you don't live in WF anymore and not a bus driver, what I mean by that is the local traffic can really frustrate us. I grew up in Peckham in my early days and would love to return there, but that also has a reputation of crime and before I forget some people that live North of the river have a block about South London from my experience. If you don't mind me asking where abouts did you live in Waltham Forest? Anyway guys I'm starting soon hopefully it won't be a stand still Sunday later on😮

Thanks for your response Vjaska. I do love Lewisham and happy living here. I used to visit every weekend with my grandad when I was still at primary school in Waltham Forest, and I felt it bad a buzz about it obviously couldn't understand much cos I was still a child. I'm glad that you're happy in Brixton, it's a lively area at all times. I took the Victoria Line there 3 Saturdays ago around 1AM and missed the last P4 home😐. Cost me £22 for a cab home. But the area was so lively and am a guy that likes it buzzing☺.

The cycle lanes taking over bus lanes like on Lea Bridge and Hoe Street really gets me down but as you say I can appreciate that I don't live there anymore. I agree that it is down to personal opinion and I have also come across people who think S London is a dump and they think it is impossible to live there. I did love Waltham Forest before the ruining so we are common in that. Now I don't even like going down that way unless its late night or early morning. I lived on Burwell Road/Lea Bridge Road up untill Summer 2016 which end of that year the roadworks started around the end of that year. I was given a council flat off Hoe Street end of 2016 it was like hell for me there it was really affecting my health. So I decided to move to Lewisham as I have a knowledge of the area cos I didn't want to go to a area that I dont know at all. I am sure a proud Lewisham resident and pray that I will be for all my years to live in the future.
