The early evening service on the 386 has fallen apart recently.
Arrived at the stop in Powis Street in Woolwich at 1750. Checked for the next bus. None showing. Left it another 5 minutes and checked again. Bus due in 26 minutes.
Not good for what should be a 15 minute service.
Beginning to wonder if too much work has gone into Morden Wharf or is it the vehicles?

Bunching on the D8 today evening. Just missed one at poplar all saints (had got off the 108 and there was D8 in front which I missed, and one D8 behind which I got).
Unfortunately this went two stops before terminating at billingsgate market (“this bus terminates here”) with a D3 just in front which had left, and the next bus being 17 minutes (D8) away. Why on earth could the bus not have terminated at the previous stop (poplar high street where one can get D6 or D7) or carry on for 30 seconds more to Canary Wharf for easier interchange is beyond me... this is how you lose patronage. There were 2 buggies, one person with a walking stick, and 5-6 kids... close to 15 people overall!

On the 180 today I ended up doing Vanbrugh Hill->Lewisham->Charlton->Cutty Sark->Vanbrugh Hill first half. Second half Vanbrugh Hill->Abbey Wood->MG. The 386, as with all MG routes, passes through major traffic hotspots which cause unpredictable delays. On a separate note to today's distruption, instead referring to the general reliability, it is somewhat impeded by the poor maintenance of buses. The 386 in particular (being the most awkward as no other buses apart from the allocated vehicles are permitted on the route) has suffered greatly from Mechanicals and NSBs. It got to the point where they were putting 10.8m buses out on the route!!!

In this day and age it is not what is expected of a large operator like Go Ahead - part of a group worth billions on the stock market. The 386 may be a smallish route but it covers areas no other ones do so reliance on it is perhaps greater than elsewhere. Let's hope GAL are not gaming the performance regime and are happy to have buses conking out because it costs them less than repairing the buses.

Sounds like the engineering department at NP as well. Just recently EN4 gearbox had a oil leak resulting in the bus being very jerky and the ABS warning coming on. This issue had been persisting for at least over 3 months. Its history on LVF does show there was a period it was constantly VOR and when it did come out it would straight away get subbed. It did suddenly get fixed as soon as TfL performance team looked into it. From my experiences the culture here seems to be if the fault is not stopping the bus moving safely, its going out in service.

Good to know that garages I know do it the same way, run it till it breaks, ignore all the cards, losing mileage is more fun. Complain about it too much and they'll find something on the driver to mess with.

Its down to parts budgeted per bus. A stupid system that many operators do. In some practices it can work, but instances of older vehicles it does not.

Silvertown also has an E16 postcode Wonder if we'll ever find out what happened, as I can't seem to find anything online? The response of taking buses out of service does suggest something fairly serious (both routes had 2-3 buses that stopped tracking just after 2200). But lack of news points to standard antisocial behaviour on Halloween Judging by the number of exclusion zones imposed by the Police last night I am not surprised that there's been a bit of a news block. Apparently there was "large disorder" at Walthamstow Central yesterday which resulted in a ban. A ban was also imposed in Hounslow. There was also a large police operation against youths causing problems in Highams Park - that's supposed to be "posh" and "well to do". With due apologies to Southwark it's hardly the Aylesbury Estate or similar is it? I never thought that Waltham Forest would start resembling the Wild West with mass disorder and murder, shootings and stabbings but hey ho that's what's what we've got now. Doesn't surprise me with LBWF, they focus on the other criminal being the motorist and let the good guys being the drug pushers etc get away with dealing on the streets, causing a menace. The area would also make perfect getaways for moped crime users with many side roads blocked off.

You're clearly not a happy bunny. Great fiction on the Countdown displays in Woolwich. Buses appear and disappear on the screens without arriving in a physical form. Half hour waits becoming all too common in the evening peak. Way too many standing passengers. SE219 hasn't even got a capacity notice. About time they cut the lightly used section between Greenwich Cutty Sark and Blackheath Village. Too many traffic delays across Blackheath. Only had the route since June. Two schedules so far. Neither any good.

I have sympathy with you in regards to the countdown screen as that happens regularly at the Kings College stop towards Brixton where buses disappear or the time actually increases and it’s very frustrating.
