Old Street roundabout has been an accident black spot for years and not just for cyclists, improvements were long overdue They could of improved it without wasting money on it - as the poster above said, a restriction like at Bank could of easily achieved the same result. Just another example of scapegoating a perfectly reasonable roundabout if people actually concentrated on driving properly rather than everyone needing their hands held. But it's not a perfectly reasonable roundabout, try it in a left hand drive vehicle. It's awkward enough in a right hand drive.

Yet many people pass through it daily without incident - I've been through it countless times on a bus and there was no incident as a result either - better education for drivers so they don't treat roads like Brands Hatch is what is required and so much money would saved continually & pointlessly messing about with roads.

The roundabout is a relic from the 1960s and no longer fit for purpose.

Not quite sure what part of navigating a the roundabout is awkward, all you need to do is keep an eye on your mirrors and not take all the turns at a ridiculous speed, should you also use your indicators other drivers are unlikely to hit you as well. I don't see what's different about a LHD vehicle, the driver of it will presumably already be reasonably confident if they're driving a LHD vehicle through the UK, especially London and as already mentioned in an above post it being LHD doesn't exactly change the location of the mirrors and indicators you need to use to navigate the roundabout.

The mirrors produce the same field of visibility and the steering wheel is still in the same location as are all the pedals so I don't see what's wrong here.

Especially considering the other 93% are presumably RHD trucks as they're registered from the UK. Now going back to your link, it shows that lorry drivers have considerably less view while performing right turns which funnily enough these schemes create as opposed to roundabouts!

If the interlock is not working, the bus should not be in service, and that bus should have been taken off the road immediately.

A very common mmc bus fault and the roots of it is not being addressed apart from temporary fixes. (This may not be an mmc but just saying)
This is very dangerous especially if you have a packed bus, the sensors or pressures might fail and thus doors will open whenever they feel like it or with very little pressure touched against doors, which means people could fall out if they're standing next to the doors.The MMC buses especially have this problem when its cold.

Is this some sort of dangerous game that's played out in the Euston to Tottenham area? I only ask because in the last days of Routemaster operation on the 73 I was amazed one balmy evening wandering down Euston Road to be passed by one very full-up one with its upper back window, which doubled as the emergency exit, hanging wide open. The conductor made a dismissive gesture with his hand when I shouted out about it!

I agree with this, but surely the driver must’ve noticed. If you’re checking all of your mirrors properly before the doors close, the various alarms throughout and you can hear the engine more clearly and other roadside noise
