This isnt about UK rail operations, so wasnt quite sure where to put this. South Africa has the most developed rail system in Africa, and Gautrain will be a new rail link between Johannesburg, Pretoria, Hatfield and OR International Airport. It is to relieve traffic congestion from the area, as the Airport is currently not served by any railway system, and cars are clogging up the road systems. Railways in South Africa have a reputation of crime, rape, muggings, and murder, which is why the railway in this country is a no-go area (although the Cape Town to Simons Town line is apparently safe). The Gautrain is aimed at the middle classes, with high security, nice trains, high prices etc The reason I wanted to mention this new rail line is because the trains being built for this line are being built by Bombardier in the UK. The trains will be based on the Electrostar. The only difference I can see is they have different fronts. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gautrain - Wiki page www.gautrain.co.za/index.php?fid=1&fp=0 - Gautrain official website us-cdn.creamermedia.co.za/assets/articles/images/resized/48062_resized_gautrain_derby7.jpg - Picture of the Electrostars at Derby, UK
