I've got myself into a new relationship recently, I wonder how long it'll be before I pluck up the courage to tell her about my 'lame' hobby! Thats definatly something I would worry about when i get a girlfriend. Being paranoid about everything doesn't help either ;D But, if you had a girlfriend who took the pee out of your hobby, she wouldn't be a very decent girlfriend. Also, my favourites are Save A Prayer, Hungry Like The Wolf, Planet Earth and Notorious! ;D

Never been a problem, what you see is what you get with me.
I absolutely refuse to 'make excuses' for my hobbies, including my main one of aviation.
My ex-wife DID try and give me an ultimatum, her or my hobbies.
I helped her pack!

I have two 10x8 pictures of buses in my room - one of a TN on the 25's (under First before going bendy) and one of GY's 3513 on the 370 with myself driving. Girl came into the room, took one look and freaked out before I could even begin to explain my hobby... There's the door love! Frankly if people can't accept you for who you are then it's their loss. Don't worry about your hobby and what others might think. In fact (and beaver can back me up here!) there were quite a few girlies about at Showbus last year so it's not just a blokey thing.

There were indeed some lovely girls at Showbus and indeed at North Weald - of course that is not the reason I went Never been a problem, what you see is what you get with me. I do love Notorious, shame it went downhill from there in terms of chartings and sales, the next single that came out (Skin Trade) was a belter and didn't even make the top 20 I've not had to worry about the relationship problem pretty much because I've never had a relationship so I look foward to over coming that hurdle ;D Finally, mega LOL's at Bighats post ;D ;D ;D

Only just stumbled acrss this thread, quite an interesting one too! When i was a kid i had a fascination with trains, well how could i not, seeing as my house back then backed on to a railway line!!! As i grew older though it sort of wore off towards cars and other motor vehicles! Thats where my hobby stands today, Cars! I've owned 5 cars in my driving career and all 5 ive worked on, modified, added this that and the other to, the list is endless! My Current 4 wheeled hobby (an 06 plate ford focus ST 2.5 Turbo for those who wish to know) is no different! If i get bored, i wash the car, if i go out, I by something to put in or add to the car!! And as for the the ladies, well who said ladies dont like fast cars? My interest in buses only started when i applied and got the job as a bus driver! After spending 5 years doing various jobs sainsbury's i wanted a new challenge, i had 2 mates who drove buses at the time (1 still does) who said the money was good so i though hey why not, Applied and got offered a place on the training course! Thats where the general interest in buses came about, but its sort of stayed at that, 'a general interest' i would'nt really class it as a hobby! I mean I spend 95% of my working life in, on and or around the d*mn things! All my knowledge of buses, routes, operations etc has all come from researching on the internet as well as what i have learn't through the grapevine and of course, on the job! However i do have a soft spot for the Leyland Titan, how could i not, as it was these maginifcant machines that ferried me and my mates to and from school on a daily basis on the 89!! back in the day where you could go to and from school for less than a quid! Now the blighters get on for free

And as for the the ladies, well who said ladies dont like fast cars? I have sat in one before and I would say they are nice, beefy looking and mean cars, as well as the mark 1 Focus RS which I prefer over the mark 1 and 2 ST's. They have a fantastic chassis and grab attention wherever they go. What colour is your one by the way, I think they look nice in Panther Black. I love that full leather Recaro interior too. My only gripe with them is the cost - they seem too over priced for what you get, and I'd never buy one for that reason if I had the money whereas there are cheaper alternatives available - but there will always be people who will pay it, just for the exclusivity (hint). ;D There is a tantalizing orange ST 2 based where I live and the owner looks about twelve, with his baseball cap peering out through the steering wheel!

My hobby has been extremely useful for giving directions. There was one time a few months ago back in college when there was a surge of interviews for unis. A lot of my friends didn't know how to travel to their respective unis, especially the ones in the far-flung regions of London like Brunel, Middlesex and Kingston Unis. Most recently, I met up with some friends in Twickenham and we were heading to Chinatown from there. It was planned to take a South West train to Waterloo and then the Northern line to Leicester Square. After finding out how costly the journey was for a few of us including changing from NR to LU at Waterloo, I suggested taking the Piccadilly line from Hounslow East which was 10 - 15 mins away from Twickenham station via the 281. Everyone agreed with my suggestion when I also pointed out that it's much cheaper. Almost all of my friends really admire me with this hobby.
