The City of London Corporation have a few plans for Epping Forest, and will be having a public meeting at the Kings Oak pub in High Beech. The plans include; * Wooden signs through Epping Forest, instead of the ugly normal ones. * More cattle grids * Shuttle buses from Chingford and Loughton stations to High Beech.
The meeting will occur this Thursday (11th Feb 2010) between 5pm and 7pm and shuttle buses (unrelated to the planned permanent ones) will operate half-hourly from Chingford Station to The Kings Oak from 5pm to 6.30pm.
Now, the planned shuttle buses, I think it would be great for this area, as I think transport improvements are needed. But, The shuttle bus from Loughton is planned to use Forest Road, which starts off very wide, but then gets narrower and narrower and is a great example of Essex CC's road management - there are parked cars which make the road single file, and then there are potholes the size of the Grand Canyon, so buses will find it difficult to use this road. Also, the planned shuttle bus from Chingford Station (not the temporary bus for the meeting) will be quite useless, as anyone that has ever been to Chingford Station will see that Epping Forest is right next door, and is easy to walk to High Beech.
P.S, if anyone wants more infomation about the meeting and planned shuttle buses, then I do have some more infomation I can post.
