I'm commuting to Birmingham every day for the next two weeks for work training. I plan to buy three Network Daytripper passes so I can explore the city a bit. Was wondering if anyone had any requests? The Y7xx TOH Tridents are definitely euro_3 on 3 speed Voith. I believe from a discussion on London Bus Group that the long V reg ZF B7TLs have no kickdown, pity as VPL174 (X157 JOP) of Sullivan shows that the older B7s can perform excellently with the full kickdown gubbins in situ. I think all of the TWM ALX400s are on Voith, both Trident and B7TL. They have 06 reg B7TLs on ZF, though if the 06 plate Vs are anything to go by, they won't have the KD at all. Only one way to find out I guess .

Not 100% on their Tridents as the NX Coventry Tridents were all on ZF. Only rode 2 vehicles myself there, a President bodied B7TL and one of their E400's which was on ZF too. Also, i'm gonna move this to the UK board as it isn't a London topic

Can confirm the NX Coventry ones are ZF - they pass thru Leamington Spa - I'm doing some IT work there. Interestingly, all Stagecoach in Warwickshire's (some of them ex-London) Volvo Olympians are Voith

Exceptions off the top of my head were the Alexander PS, brilliant machines, some Pointer Darts and the Alexander Sprinters.

It was a Lance rather than Volvo chassis though, but was still a fantastic vehicle

Right you are, some of those Tridents are on ZF. Noticed 4410 (BJ03 xxx) today overrevving. Sounded quite fast, like 9757. Anyone know if buses up this way are uprated?
I did have a ride the other day. I did one of the 06 plate B7TLs, the driver was quite slow and I'm not sure it had a working kickdown, though it was running up to 2000rpm. I changed for a different bus and ended up in Dudley. This was a 53 plate Gemini. Still on ZF, but with a working kickdown. Didn't sound like it was in great health, on one occassion it downshifted and this caused a great release of air which shouldn't have happened. After this I went on an E400 on route 246 and ended up in Stourbridge. Not particularly fast, pretty much the same as the London ones. Caught the train back home from there.

I remember one time when I did an Explorer around Cambridge/Peterborough area and was on route X9 from Chatteris to Ely. Nice dead straight flat bit of road, even overtook a car with with ease!
