Spooky! TfL carried out a formal assessment on the route 222 on Friday using the demo 12m Tempo from AV.... A 12m Bus on the 222 is a good idea, the 10.2m DPS's which have become the norm over the last few months are totally inadequate. The only spot where I could think they'd come into difficulty is the turning circle at West Drayton Station. Then again, if a LLW can do it, I'm sure a Tempo can. What was the length of the LLWs?

If the LLW was virtually the same length lets hope they include this in tender option (route 222 is in tranche 387 which needs bids in 16 weeks time) Although its unlikely to happen I also hope they test them on 371 which has lots of problems at school times (and which does sometimes have a 10.8m SP on Richmond school bus working) I know from a local newsletter the Secondary school in Ham is expanding by about another 60 pupils in Sept (most from Kingston), so hopefully they wont wait til Sept to look at this.

snowman if you have done the 371 route you would certainly know 12m wont fit (especially between when it leaves richmond and goes upto that hill all the way to ham) there are some seriously tight turns which i would never have thought 10.7m omnicities (taken from scania website) would go around until i saw two of them myself. 12m though is out of the question.

Would be nice to see if we can get a drivers opinion of these too Well many of the passengers were talking to the driver and commenting on how smart they look etc. The driver I had said they look very nice, didnt mention anything about how they are to drive. The best person to ask about that is deppy42

According to LOTs TLB (April) the 7 extra Tempos for 203 weren't actually confirmed orders, but 7 MB Citaros are ordered instead
Assuming LOTs doesn't do April fools jokes, I wonder if Optares late delivery of current batch counted against them, and will the Citaros be similar (but with more seats) than Go-Aheads MECs
What I find odd, is they seek happy with the maintenace headache from keeping spare parts for so many small non-standard fleets

Maintenance headache shouldn't cause too much problems considering both are Mercedes-Benz engined but regarding bodywork, it's not exactly saving money. I'm sure 'deppy42' would be better than myself on this subject
