Wow, nothing for x months, then 3 rants in 1 month, I'm doing very well aren't I ;D
Anyway 'Vermin' Media have p***ed me off again tonight - my internet connection died earlier (though it's working now obviously). Not that that is the problem though - I wasn't even using the computer at the time.
Anyway because my mum was expecting an important e-mail, she got on the phone to Vermin customer service and told them of the problem. I thought I already knew what it was, as the modem was behaving in a similar way to how it was in March/April (you'll have to trawl though this board for that one...), and that was because the signal from the green box down my road went weak again, and would need strengthening by a technician. Turns out I was wrong. After about 30-40 minutes on the phone my mum was told that there was a problem in the entire area and that it would be sorted by 8pm. Surprisingly it WAS sorted by 8pm
That's not the problem though
Beforehand we had spoken to some guy and I got no idea what planet he's on, but he told us the reason why my internet connection wasn't working was because we had signed up to a slow connection in the first place (we currently have 512K which is enough for us, none of that expensive 8MB business thank you - not yet ). I thought that was complete b*****ks, but it's what he done next that REALLY annoyed my mum.
He then told us that he had UPGRADED our package to a 1MB broadband, meaning that we would have to pay £18.99 a month (we presently pay £14.99 for our 512K). And he done this WITHOUT telling my mum initially and gaining her permission.
I don't know what kind of fool they were employing there ;D
When my mum had talked to the final person who told us that there was a problem in the area, they said that they would change us back to the 512K package, and that any costs concurred by us would be deducted, including (I think) the cost of that call to that TURKEY of a call centre guy
What kind of company employs fools like him, who are prepared to break the rules to scrounge money out of loyal customers? For the record we've been with Vermin Media/NTL [or Numpty Telecommunications Ltd ;D] since 1998 I believe, apart from an era around 2000-2001 when we switched to Freeserve/Wanadoo. You do NOT want to know the name I came up with for Wanadoo, trust me ;D. NTL had their fair share of problems, but they became a million times worse when Vermin took over
Every time something goes wrong with the internet, or the phone, or the digital TV I just picture myself grabbing a steamroller and running over Richard Branson with it Yes he's been a successful businessman, but he annoys me THAT much
Anyway, rant over [img src="http://www.styleforum.net/images/smilies/icon_gu_b_slayer[1].gif"]
