Hey all
I know it's too early to call plus even though the last two games were friendlies but still a game is a game and a win is a win. I've seem to notice that the England seems to play better without Rooney on the pitch or is that just me. With new guys coming onto the squad with the likes of Sturridge, Bent, Downing, Phil Jones, Young etc.
Its also good to have witness England beat Spain, the best football team in the world by just 1-0.
Your thoughts on England's performance within the last two friendlies Spain & Sweden.

Your thoughts on England's performance within the last two friendlies Spain & Sweden. Can't comment on the game against Sweden but I heard it was 1-0 and that someone missed an open goal. But England are truely awful and far too arrogant and thank glad I've not supported them since 1998. They sat their against Spain and just hoped for the best. They had 30 odd % possession & 2 shots compared to Spains 12 shots and 60 odd % possession and yet people were calling them world champions just because they were extremely lucky beating Spain. What would of happened if Spain scored, England would have buried. I don't really like Spain either for racisim issues but they are world champions for a reason. If that was a knockout match, Spain would of won it. At the Euro, I will be supporting Ireland since they qualified, a decent team who thankfully are not arrogant and will give it a real go. I'm also part Irish as well .

The over-riding thought I had from watching both games was that one's best TEAM doesn't necessarily contain one's best players. Against Spain, we were missing a number of players who might be considered England's best; Rooney, Terry and Gerrard spring to mind. But there were moments in that game where we looked alright. Lescott, Jones, Johnson and particularly Scott Parker all looked completely at ease with international football and with playing against the best international side in the world. Yes, we sat back and defended most of the time against Spain, but, hell, why not? Were we going to out play Spain? 'Out-flair' them? Beat them at their own game? Hell no! So we beat them at a different game. It was a friendly and as such it wasn't so important for Spain that they win. I believe they've lost their last three friendly games now and yet they qualified for Euro 2012 unbeaten. If we come up against them in Euro 2012 I imagine the game and the result will be quite different. But for now, England supporters should take heart from the fact that they played OK against the best side in the world and managed to nick the result The Sweden game was slightly different but again it showed some of the younger players coming to the fore. Kyle Walker got Man of the Match and was excellent while Jack Rodwell put in a very good performance. At the back Gary Cahill put in a decent shift although I think we may well struggle up front. I don't think Bobby Zamora is international class and Baines' performance at left back simply showed that Ashley Cole is safe for now. It's a shame Welbeck didn't make it and I'd like to have seen Sturridge get some more time. But like I said, the game was different. On another night we might have scored four or five, on yet another night it might have been a draw. I wasn't impressed with Sweden; I've come to expect good things from them but this current team doesn't seem to have that spark past Sweden teams have had I can only hope Capello has decided he gives a d*mn and has taken notice of the performance of the younger players. I genuinely think we can do without players such as Terry, Ferdinand, Lampard and Gerrard and it's only the lack of top class centre forwards that means we still need Rooney. We won't win Euro 2012 but, provided we don't play the big name players because they are our big name players, we should put in a decent performance Oh, and yes, glad to see the Irish made it. Always nice to seem them make a major tournament. Now if only the other Home Nations could pull it off once in a while.......

But with Republic of Ireland they have less star players then England but on the other hand they seem to do better in that case. With the likes of Robbie Keane, Kevin Doyle,Duff & Ex-Man city Start Shay Given.

But with Republic of Ireland they have less star players then England but on the other hand they seem to do better in that case As I said, one's best team doesn't have to contain one's best players. Think back to Euro 2004. Would any of the Greek team have got in the Spanish, Dutch, German, Italian or English teams? Probably not, but they still won the tournament i'm not just saying this because i'm welsh but if you ask me rooney is over payed and over rated thanks Over-paid? Yes; the overwhelming majority of Premier League footballers are Over-rated? Not so sure on that one. I wouldn't go as far as Alex Ferguson and compare Rooney to Pele but Rooney is probably this generation's Paul Gascoigne, ie the best English player of his generation. Rooney is able to do things that can turn a game on it's head for England. Sadly, it's not always to the good but it's improving Of course, Rooney might not be an issue for Euro 2012. Regardless of the outcome of his appeal I wouldn't take him to Poland and the Ukraine

Just one ball into the box and all of a sudden it hit the post and then fell kindly into lampard feet or head should I say! From then on, I had a feeling it would stay at that scoreline so i put on a little £3 bet and won! But spain were slightly unlucky. Villa hit the post, fabregas should have scored, busquets as well in the first half... It would have been nice to see rooney instead of bent. Of course, england wouldn't have scored if bent didn't head it onto the post but I hardly ever saw him in the game.
