Oh dear! Ken Livingstone is digging himself a hole. MAYOR of London candidate Ken Livingstone has sparked a new outrage after telling an audience: "Hang a banker a week until the others improve." The Labour veteran's jibe is the latest in a string of insults aimed at financial workers. In an after-dinner speech before 1,000 guests he said the world of finance had contributed nothing to help secure Britain's future. It came a week after he suggested gay bankers risk having their privates "cut off" if they ditch London for Dubai. The same week he was blasted for claiming the Tory party was "riddled" with gays and lesbians. The British Bankers' Association hit back yesterday. Chief exec Angela Knight said: "Continual demonisation of the banking industry, which employs around half a million ordinary, hard-working people in the UK and over 140,000 in London, is unhelpful and won't attract jobs and business to the UK. "If he intends to make London hostile to business and string up a fair proportion of his electorate he is going the right way about it." Mr Livingstone also branded Tory rival Boris Johnson "the devil" in his speech to the Electrical Contractors' Association. The article is here - www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/news/politics/article4135190.ece

If you still want to vote this man in, then you need your head testing I don't think it's fair at all to claim that people who wish to vote for Ken need their head testing, if people vote for Ken they will obviously have their own reasons for doing so and haven't got to vote for someone else just because YOU happen not to like him. People have or will make their own minds up on who they will vote for in the election and it's wrong to claim that someone lacks mental abilities just because they don't agree with you.

Well, im certainly not voting for boris... www.thisislondon.co.uk/standard/article-24022330-bus-drivers-demand-pound-500-bonus-for-olympics.doUnite, the country's largest union, has written to all London's bus operators demanding the £500 payments.
An extra 800,000 passengers are expected on buses during the Olympics, meaning staff will be working far harder, with "significantly increased revenue" for Transport for London
The Mayor branded Tube and bus drivers as "chiselling". He said: "It is incredible that people are using their positions to lever more money out of London's transport budget. I don't think it is reasonable."
On the bonus claim by bus drivers he said: "I don't support it. There is no extra burden I can see."There was also a thread somewhere here when he was waffling to ferrari on LBC about the NBFL. I was not impressed with the way he answered some of the questions.

Well I am not voting Boris! Yea Ken can make a few gaffs BUT compared to baffling boris he is a better choice for transport. Better choices? Like the Artics that plagued London and then free travel for under 18's - yeah they are brilliant moves He has one policy - to cut fares by 7% but he is in dreamland. It's not feasible. I also wouldn't vote someone who makes slurs about homosexuals - this isn't 1950 and to make out that gay and lesbian people are disease, it's disgusting. The man bled my local council dry of cash when he worked and he will do the same as mayor.

Ken Livingstone is a first class idiot who brought artics to routes that could barely handle them and took away the legendary routemaster i feel that there should be 5 heritage routes around london not 2

TBH I doubt the routemasters will be retendered after the current contracts finish in 2015 /17 by then the buses will be around 60 years old. As for the artics I think they worked well on the red arrow routes! they sweep up a huge number of passengers at mainline stations.

I won't be voting for Boris period! In my opinion he's an idiot and a modern day example of someone who goes mad when in a position of power.

I've been giving this abit of thought today. Now my heart and head automatically say vote Labour and ignore Tory. Sorry, but that's that.
The problem I'm having is my head is actually thinking logically. Transport wise....both Boris and Ken have had their faults. Ken had the bendy, big waste of money but they COULD have worked if they had conductors....Boris, NBfL, works with conductors but coupled with the replacement of the bendy bus has been a massive waste of public money....so far.
Free travel....Ken introduced it and made a huge mistake in turning London buses into youth clubs....Boris, well has he scrapped free travel? Enough said...
So, in terms of expenditure within the capital. So far I see a typical pattern emerging. Labour spend too much money, Tories don't spend enough. 6 of one and half a dozen of the other.
Crime...well neither has done very well because, and this is where I feel sorry for the police, if you get rid of one high crime rate then another will appear.
Now for me, the real deal clincher is the difference in perceptions about what is important to Londoners. Boris has been very quick to moan at transport unions about the bonus payments they want for working during the Olympics, in fact slightly abusive in my eyes. However, I haven't once heard him have a go about those who earn stupid amounts of money not paying their taxes etc (I won't turn into one of those idiots that think every bonus should be stopped because it shouldn't). It seems Boris thinks believes the financial sector is still the best way of making London what it was before the recession....
Ken, on the other hand, has stayed rather quiet on both fronts. Not once heard him moan about either but HAS been quoted about ideas to improve the standard of living for those across the city. He seems to understand and realise that times are difficult and need sorting.
I'm sorry, but as it stands I'm honestly going to be voting for Ken. I made two mistakes in the London and National by not voting for Labour and regret them both. This time I'm sticking with my instinct.

Seeing as I have 40 Back Boris bus pass holders, I don't think I'll be voting Ken...in fact I wouldn't vote Ken even if he was the ONLY candidate...As been said how he thinks he can reduce fares by 7% is beyond me also if you look into fares outside of London they fare from extortinate (sp) in London.

I'm not a fan of Boris and at the current stage i may vote for Ken as anyone has to be better than him but i will have to look into all the candidates.

Ok lets have a debate on tfl items not anything else for me Boris has done more i.e. removed the bendies and introduced a lot more hybrids ok the borismster funding should have brought more hybrids but he wanted a vanity project like Ken had with his bendies and leave the staff team alone they are running a decent forum
