Cant believe we do not seem to have a thread for this operator. Are they cleverly positioning themselves to take up some of the slack in Northampton re First ... probably knocked a bit of the price First would be hoping to get www.busandcoach.com/newspage.aspx?id=6949&categoryid=0

Maybe because this section is called London Bus Operators, and last time I looked Northampton wasn't part of London.

Well, Uno do run some routes into London (one goes to Enfield from what I remember ), though I don't think they've got any TFL work yet

It's the 615 that runs to Stanmore - shortly increased to x30 M-F and an hourly Sat service added. The 610 runs into Enfield M-F peaks only. The 614 runs M-F half hourly and Sat hourly but some trips run as 644 that omits Barnet. Some 644s at college times run on to Wembley Park. You're correct that they do not have any TfL contracted work.

If this Operator was awarded a TFL contract then I think this thread would get more comments.

If this Operator was awarded a TFL contract then I think this thread would get more comments. Probably true but I would be very surprised if Uno decided to bid for TfL work. They strike me as the sort of operation that is very happy to have the freedom of deregulation. They are, though, unusual in operating three routes into the TfL area which is a relative rarity these days. I recently took a photo of a 614 bus and it was pretty popular on my Flickr stream which rather surprised me given it was just a Dennis Trident.

I had 273 (V317 KGW) on the 601 a couple of weeks ago, which runs from St Albans to Welwyn Garden City. It was great to hear that aggressive, almost metallic sounding engine tone once again, these buses were certainly much louder than the Euro 3 and newer models. The interior was pretty much untouched from its TfL service days, despite the repaint into Uno livery.
The performance was poor. I don't think I ever had a good run on this bus in the last few years - but it was very weak when the kickdown was used. The acceleration was incredibly sluggish. I wouldn't be surprised if the engine was in this state when it bowed out of TfL service as I understand it was running out of WL when used during the Olympics. I wonder if it will be used long term or if it is just a temporary arrangement for Uno?
V330 KGW was also out on the route, along with a former PDL. Still regret that I left Abellio just days before these V reg Tridents were returned to service!

V317 KGW was sluggish when it was on the ELC but was a lot quicker when it became a regular on the 152. It must have been neglected again after it left Beddington. Those Euro2 engine Tridents are heavier on maintenance demands than their successors.
