Hi guys I've recently decided that I need to invest in a decent coffee machine that makes very nice coffees but I don't know where to start to look or which ones are best. My question is does anyone have any advice for me?

Hi guys I've recently decided that I need to invest in a decent coffee machine that makes very nice coffees but I don't know where to start to look or which ones are best. My question is does anyone have any advice for me? Ian First thing to consider is whether you want an espresso machine or a filter machine. Filter machines make fairly nice coffee (I use one) and the machine as well as the coffee for it are far cheaper. Best brand for that is probably a Kenco machine. The espresso machines are far more expensive and the capsules or beans you have to buy for them are more expensive but they'll make Starbucks-quality coffee. Best brand for those is a Krups or Magimix Nespresso machine. The quality of the former machine type is fairly good, infinitely better than instant, but if you really want the best and are willing to pay for it the Nepresso is the best option. I like lattes cappucinos and the like so id like one that makes them. I'll have a look at nespresso when i'm on my laptop thanks for the help mredd

My advice is save yourself some money and buy Nescafé 3 in 1 pouches. Cheap but tastes good - to me anyway.

I know LC1 has just bought a Tassimo too and he seems to be getting on with it well too.

I have had a Tassimo for about 4 years ... makes good coffee (and other drinks) just a question of whichh of the range of coffee's you like best ... however I do not use it much and stick to a cafetiere ... makes good enough coffee for me ... and far cheaper than the Tassimo

I'd go with the Tassimo. It's on the expensive side and as has been mentioned the pods aren't cheap either but the range they do is enormous (check out the Tassimo website) and the coffee is very, very good. I think I might just be addicted to the Caramel Lattes ;D

As Swadbus says I've recently acquired a Tassimo having been a staunch user of the Senseo machines for years (£30 offer from Costa was too good to turn down) as paul says the Caramel Lattes are simply divine (although I add a shot of Caramel syrup to mine)
Can only comment on the two machines (Senseo & Tassimo) but the Tassimo is fantastic for cappuccino's and latte's and the plain coffess are very nice as well, one thing to bear in mind though is they are more a 'continental' coffee and as such don't do a mug size cup, around 3/4 size.
If it's just coffee then I'd go for one of the filter or cafeterias, but for latte's etc... I'd go for a Tassimo, especially if you can pick one up at a reasonable price.

Thanks everyone I'm looking a round at deals on the tassimo machines now and am hoping to have one soon. Good choice...a little tip apart from size the costa latte's are no different really to the Carte Noire ones (the costa ones are a little bigger) Milka is the best hot chocolate (more creamy than Cadbury's) IMO and if you do get chocolate, warm the disc in a cup of hot water for a couple of minutes first (the chocolate solidifies in storage)
