The optare metro city's for route 312 have now arrived fleet numbers emc1 & 2 Just in time to avoid Sir Peter Hendy being made a liar given the Commissioner's Report for next week's TfL Board Meeting says they arrived (past tense) in October!! I wonder how much pressure has been applied to getting them to Croydon to meet the (much revised) deadline.

I see Go Ahead have ordered two Optare Metrocity all electrics (from latest TLB). No statement about what route they are for. I'd not be shocked if they ended up on the 360 (do I get the job as Forum Speculation Official? ).

Any news on the 69's buses? I haven't seen any meaningful update lately. All the references in reports are to "Spring" which could mean anything. I've also not seen anything too obvious at Walthamstow Bus Station in terms of where the buses might recharge between trips.

From routeone magazine:
Five BYD full-electric doubledeckers are reported to be currently in build in China and the manufacturer is eyeing London as a possible destination. Comments Transport for London (TfL) Director of Buses Mike Weston: “We have been speaking to BYD about the possibility of trialling a small number of electric double-deck buses. “However, thiswouldbedependent upon BYD seeking 19/19.5t gross vehicle weight dispensation from the Department for Transport. “Without such dispensation the buses could not carry standing passengers, which would not be acceptable in London.”

I have travelled on the BYD's and Metrolectrics, and i have to say i prefer the later. Quite nice but i was very underwhelmed. The EB's are really nasty things in my eyes. The MEC's are quieter believe me.
