Go Ahead London have their own website at www.londoncentral.com/home/index.html which has the timetables and info for their own commercial services. They have yet to update the site for this particular route but I am sure they will do so nearer the time the service starts. Looks like they are using one of the buses that would usually be on schools work for this "day trip" type service. It'll be interesting to see if it gets any patronage given the quality of the train service from Romford to Southend.

Could be very successful if priced right and advertised accordingly (Making sure the bus operating the route has some proper blinds would be a start!).

Completely agree, the train service to Southend is ok, but if the bus is cheaper I know for certain that most people would choose that over the train. Wonder if they will be stopping the route at stations on the way too. Maybe a Gidea Park and then Harold Wood. If not, maybe some via the c2c line. It's a bus link that has long been lost since Thamesway's old routes 2, 251 and 551 got withdrawn to Basildon/completely in the 90's.

Completely agree, I'm just waiting to see what the prices are as that will make or break it! I'm sure that the bus is stopping at Upminster then going non-stop from there when I was looking at the route application. Sadly I can't remember how I got on it so if anyone can get it and confirm it'd be appreciated (Great to see a post by you John )

See pages 55 and 56 - this gives route, times and stops in Greater London. It does stop at Upminster. www.tfl.gov.uk/assets/downloads/businessandpartners/lsp_bulletin.pdf

I've never done the 575 before but I've seen it a couple of times when ever I'm around Romford. The route uses PVLs but the early types of course. Surely if the Route gets extended to Southend from Lakeside would the route may need newer buses to cope with the mileage & running time?

Yep they could put "everyone's favourite" (not) Omnicities ex route 425 once its lost on tender. ;D ;D You, too, can ride a plank to the seaside.

You, too, can ride a plank to the seaside. I hope not! The only plank I was planning on riding was the flume ride at the 'amusement' park ;D

LG's commercial department loose one or two school routes in Surrey in July which use younger PVLs so one could transfer for the longer 575, plus they also have LED blinds so should be able to show the correct blinds.

Shops in Southend will make a roaring trade selling cushions and bags of ice...

Our school PVLs had refurbs when we started school contracts, they'll be more reliable than more modern buses as we know the faults with them already, the WVLs seem to invent problems like Emission derate - whatever that is. our PVLs should handle Southend fine
