oh dear..... i can't understand what police got to do with it? WHY can't bus driver call out on centrecom to find out what type of wheelchair will be allowed! It clear that bus driver of Arriva fail to knowledge enough of what type of wheelchair! Bus driver is not allowed to make the rules up! it is down to TfL's rule!!!!

That's pee poor from an inspector the police in my opinion, just to hide behind Arriva bus "policy", in the end all the police inspector did was escort him off the bus and drove away before the guy was even on the second bus.

TFL, have to ask questions of ARRIVA, disgraceful discrimination the guy should take this further being treated like a 3rd class citizen.

TBH, the only sensible person there was the police officer, imo. Driver was clearly in the wrong, as was wheelchair user. This boils down to drivers not reading the red book, or keeping up with changes. I would have let the wheelchair user on.
But, and there is always a but, for someone who uses a motorized, joystick controlled wheelchair, he could sure move around alot!

The issue as I see it is the driver was weary so contacted centre com but kinda didn't tell them the full facts so the disabled guy was rejected and stood his ground. now I've seen scooters on buses and funnily enough they cause no issue so I'd just let him on.

Well its not an isolated incident where wheelchair users get rejected onto London Buses. I seen video of a wheelchair (electric) user flagging down the bus at the bus stop and the bus just drove past her. www.youtube.com/watch?v=oTEhnt0obQUBut do the companies get penalties for refusing to take wheelchair users even if the victim (wheelchair user) have evidence like video footage on phone?
