A few routes through Harlesden - 187, 226 for example - have long been First routes and are still advertised on bus stops as First routes but some runs are using Metroline vehicles. Anyone know why?

The timetables won't be updated unless a major shift in timings occurs in which case they will update to show operated by "Metroline for London Buses".
First in London sold that operation to Metroline - First's only remaining London garage is at Dagenham. I'm hoping someone who can remember the exact split will be able to tell you which garages went to Metroline and which ones went to Tower Transit.

AS, X and LI are with Tower Transit, while WJ, UX, HS, ON, G have gone to Metroline.

Tower Transit bought Westbourne Park, Atlas Road and Lea Interchange. Metroline bought Willesden Junction, Alperton, Uxbridge, Hayes and Greenford.

Thanks for the info gentlemen. I guess that's why the new single deckers that were being tried out on the 226 suddenly disappeared. I only went on one - Golders Green Station to Waxlow Road, but the driver seemed nervous and hesitant so it wasn't a good experience.

There was only one of them there as a trial and it has been gone for a few months.

There were two demonstrators. One (DRZ9420) ran with Arriva on the 491 and that's the one that went to Arriva KT. WM47400 (DRZ6181) was with First and was usually on the 228 and 226. It was photographed at Heysham Docks last weekend so clearly went back to Wrights but no one knows where it is going next. Obviously Go Ahead now have moderate numbers of WS vehicles on the 462, 491 and 219.

Thanks for this, I didn't realise there was two demonstrators built to TfL spec. I thought it was only one that went from company to company.

It has been with the company forever and seems to have been at DT for yonks, with no end in sight (they've sent one of the Cadets allocated to the 428 back to GY even!)
