I know that some of us drivers running light from crystal palace to BC were banned from using grange road in thornton heath although im not sure why. We just go via whitehorse road instead. We were also banned from using manor road in pollards hill (when running light to and from BC) due to complaints from residents about too many buses using that road. Of course, if we were running out of service as a 152 then we can use that road but other routes were not allowed. I know that some drivers on the P13 run light from Streatham going via Streatham vale and mitcham eastfields, or others go straight on the A23 via norbury, thornton heath and purley way. The rest just go through manor road regardless I believe Windmill Road is another road where only the 152 is allowed to run light along, the only other buses allowed being the 463 which runs in service along there.

That Shepherds Lane ban is crazy, its a public road and a bus route. I still see buses using it.[ quote author=" Madstuntman" source="/post/208788/thread" timestamp="1374572858"] From what I've heard anyway you want as long as you avoid low bridges, restricted roads and a few roads that residents have complained about, I'm sure there was a mention of this by Madstuntman ages ago when a road that was used by 160's (I think) running light was not allowed to be used as residents complained DT buses are banned from using Shepherds Lane in Dartford for light running (despite it being part of the 492 route) due to 1 public complaint specifically about the squeaky brakes on the DLA's but the ban included all buses of all types. To be honest I always ignored the ban... (f**k it I don't work there anymore... What they gonna do now?!?) [/quote]

Route 363's from Crystal Palace returning to Peckham Garage tend to go line of route as far as Lordship Lane Wood Vale, then instead of going via the tiny residential streets of Underhill Road and Wood Vale continue along LL to Dulwich Library and Barry Road as Route 197 back to line of route on Peckham Rye.
Underhill Road in East Dulwich must be the shortest residential street in London which is served 24 hours a day by double deckers!

I believe when route 188 runs light between WL and North Greenwich, it passes: . Camberwell Green . Peckham . New Cross Gate . Deptford Bridge (Sometimes Creek Road) . Greenwich

I raise you Dalberg Road in Brixton - the bit served by buses is extremely short and is served 24 hours a day by two routes.

Looking at the section of Dalberg Road where buses serve on Google Streetview, it's larger than the section of Underhill Road served by the 363, N63 (and P13 which serves the whole of the road.)

The 71 & 281 cross into Surrey to get from FW to Chessington or Tolworth via Hampton Court Bridge and the A309 & A3
The 65 runs to Ealing from FW via the 267 to Syon Lane then A4 , from there they can reach line of route at Ealing Road.
You can see 57's at Clapham Common & Wandsworth
Not sure where the FW 131's from Tooting travel through, i think they miss out Wimbledon via the 152 from S.Wimbledon to Shannon Corner. Whether they then go via A3 A309 & Hampton Court to FW I don't know.
I miss being able to go on routes with route deviations for garage runs.
The best i recall were in service 27's from Richmond to Hounslow via the then 37 & the 326 trips beyond Barnet to Potters Bar via country lanes

The FW routes in Kingston usually run light via Church Grove/Park Road/Sandy Lane, Broad Street and Stanley Road (i.e. the 481 route). 111 is often via Bridge Road, Worton Road, Twickenham, Fulwell and the 481 route. The 65 can also run light using Twickenham Road to Busch Corner.

I think the 496 runs light from Harold Wood to NS via Gubbins Lane, Colchester Road till Gallows Corner, then on Eastern Avenue West, then on North Street.
Also, the 66, 370 and 375 run light to GY from Romford via Main Road till Gallows Corner, Southern Arterial Road, the M25, West Thurrock Way and London Road.

Does anybody know how the 498 runs light to BE because I used to think before it runs from Brentwood to DM via the M25, then around the Purfleet area and the A13, then on Hindmans Way but I don't know if that is still the case with the BE running.

I would imagine it's not much different. From BE the drivers could access the A13 heading east, join the M25 at Thurrock and come off it again at the A12 for Brentwood.

AFAIK when the 47 is running light to Catford Garage (from Shoreditch) it passes along Liverpool Street, Monument, London Bridge, Tower Bridge, Bermondsey, Surrey Quays, Deptford, Deptford Bridge, Lewisham, Catford and Catford Bus Garage. This applies to the first Sunday bus running from Shoreditch where the 47 passes along those roads to get there and also the last bus that finishes at 00:50 in Shoreditch.

If there is one thing I don't get, it is that the majority of drivers from Metrobus when running light from Croydon or Purley to their Croydon depot, they would go via Purley Way, Ampere Way (past Therapia Lane Tram Stop) and Coomnber Lane. It is far quicker to turn left from Purley Way into Croydon Road and then do a right into Beddington Lane. I just don't get it

Since the 249 has moved to SW, the dead running now runs via Herne Hill & Effra Road - I'm guessing they follow the 3 from Palace.
