And the alternative... ...let a train run over the disabled woman?
Seriously, this IS political correctness gone into overdrive!
Listening to BBC London this morning I heard that a member of staff at the Southern Railway received a certificate for his bravery after saving a child who went onto tracks in 1946, and this was in West Croydon, which had third rail electrification, as opposed to Southend, which has a OHLE system.

So a railway worker got suspended for saving someone life. Its one of the most craziest things I read in a while. Surely, they wouldn't sack that employee

As with any incident like this it is always more sensible to wait for the facts to emerge. I am not at all convinced that all of the facts have emerged and we need to avoid going into defensive hysteria in the meantime no matter how much sympathy we may have for any of the individuals involved. These things are rarely as straightforward as they are initially made out to be.

I wouldn't go onto the track to save someone without following procedures first.
