Calling all west Londoners Next week I’m going to do some trips in Upper West/North West London as its my least frequently visited part of London with quite a lot of routes I haven’t yet tried. (Not talking south west/Kingston area as I’m very familiar with that part of London as I have family down there) Any recommendations of some good end to ends? In that area the only e2e’s I’ve ever done are: - 195, I can’t believe I put myself through it - 297, equally bad but not quite e2e, missed off the top section - 278, quite enjoyable - 440, but before it was rerouted with 218 etc - A10, fantastic route - E1, not exactly a difficult one lol So I’m very open to suggestions as I’d love to do some good ones

Personally most Uxbridge routes aren't that special they just serve the same places like Hillingdon Hospital, Brunel Uni, West Drayton, Hayes etc. Though I'd recommend the U9 and 331 they have fast sections and countryside views.

Uxbridge is great for fast sections and countryside views absolutely, and they are especially great to ride on the older stock. It will certainly be sad to see DE874, 1583-1585, 1588, 1591 & 1614 go when the A10/U10 get retained, they are an excellent batch and I certainly remember when it was at PB 1587 was great however I believe that's now with AH.

There are a few scenic bits in between Havnt tried but presumably some of the very outer ones (331 etc) should be good as well Don’t do the 266 unless you are really bored (I did in the middle of the day when it used to run to Hammersmith and had to spend 30 min at a coffee shop to wake up properly. Ranks close to the most “exotic” experiences I have had on a bus - winner being the EL2 at Dagenham dock!)

I would avoid the 142 if it's end to end - the section from Stanmore/Edgware to Brent Cross is not very exciting. The only scenic part really is the short rural section around Stanmore Common. Route 258 would be a better option - it's shorter, is also quite scenic north of Harrow Weald, plus the area around Harrow School is interesting too at the southern end. In West & North West London, I would also suggest routes 107, 240, 324, 331, 350, H12, H13 and U9.

My first leg of my journey to 100% complete the Tube Map (for now at least) takes me to the eastbound section of the Piccadilly Line.
Walk to Wood Green Station Piccadilly Line- Wood Green to Cockfosters (really liked the scenery between Oakwood and Cockfosters; that part of suburban North London I really like) SL90 (299)- Cockfosters Station to Muswell Hill e2e DW298 (144)- Muswell Hill to Gladstone Avenue (saw some vintage buses in Muswell Hill. Was there an open day?) Went to get a much needed haircut then walked home.

Today's sojourn ................ Walked up to Syon Lane station ................ knew it was going to be a good day when I managed to photo RTP RT999 in Poppy OL on the way to the station. SWR 450088 to Waterloo. GAL SEe25 on the 521 to Holborn Circus - full and standing as a Red Arrow service should be. Managed a few LT's on the 17 including RT111 in Poppy OL and also SCL 11363 on the 25 in Poppy OL (is anyone detecting a theme here ........?) - was also lucky enough to photo SCL 11377 (Spirit of London 2) which was the service ahead of 11363 - so managed a picture of them together on the stand in Holborn Viaduct and the driver of 11363 then moved it to the head of the stand queue so I could photo them the other way round ....... what an absolutely STAR !!!! Managed a few OL LT's on the 8 too and also couldn't resist half an hour further down the road photo'ing the SCL E400H's on the 56 which I absolutely love - nothing special but I just like the bus / route combination in a totally weird way. Also took a few 63's on Farringdon Street for good measure. Walked up to and got the Central Line from St. Pauls to Shepherd's Bush to successfully intercept RTP BCE47001 in Poppy OL on the 94 - also BCE47002 in FFI OL which is possibly the worst colour I've ever seen - 'orrible bright dayglo-ish green .............. Then more Central Line out to Greenford to photo two required E200's on the E6 - ML DE1115 👍 missed DE1158 (Subbed out at 12:00 😢) but managed a decent photo of DE1118 at last (only had a blurred one thus far) - the E6 / 105 stand at Greenford - My God what a hellish road !! - however round the corner outside the station provided a decent spot for everything including ML TE's on the 92 (another fav. route / bus combo). Greenford has a great "Willy Wonka style" lift between Booking Hall and Platforms that sort of goes "sideways" at an angle - couldn't resist a go 😁👍 Then Central Line back to White City for a couple of hours just photo bashing as much a possible particularly the 148 BCE's whilst waiting for the return of two more required ML DE's - DE1147 arrived on the 316 at 15:30 (I had just missed it earlier in the day) and DE1158 on the 95 at 15:45 which I managed to photo on the stand opposite the Green through a gap in the rush hour traffic in the gathering murk at 1/30th sec exposure and ISO320 - it's a great picture - I continue to be impressed at how Digital Camera's can capture images in conditions that film cameras wouldn't have touched. Last photo of the day. Then a ride on ML VW1055 on the 237 back to Busch Corner, Isleworth to end the day's entertainment. Nice comfy seat upper deck just abaft the stairs 👍
