Yesterday I wanted to catch up with the VHRs on the 125 and pay homage to RATP on the 111. I decided to do it old school and not look at LVF or any timetable apps.
So from Southgate I caught VH45084 heading towards Colindale. Spotted VHR45206 going the other way as we passed at Finchley Central. Then left VH45084 at Hendon to catch It’s leader back towards Whetstone so I could catch VHR45206 back again. Luckily for me VHR45207 turned up so I managed two VHRs.
VHR45206/7 looked stunning I thought and were driven with gusto up the hills on the way.
BCE47109 on the 183 took me to Harrow and then BCE47057 took me to Heathrow on the X140. Quite a pleasant sunset as we approached Hayes and Harlington.
Was getting cold by now and I wasn’t particularly impressed at the temperature on board BCE47109 or 57, so had a coffee from cafe Nero.
LT461 was my route 111 ride all the way to Kingston. Lovely drive, passed my old house and school. My old local pub and the playing fields we had our sports day on.
Then VH45166 on the 85 on a very quick speedy trip to Putney . Then ADH45072 on the 414 to Marble Arch and finally BCE47022 on the 94 to Charles II Street.

456 turned 1 year old today so did an end to end to celebrate it.
HV185 (102)- Green Lanes to Pymmes Park Walked around Pymmes Park for a little bit. A surprisingly large park I must say WS50 (456)- Bull Lane/North Middlesex Hospital to Crews Hill Walked to Crews Hill Station. Hopefully TFL consider extending the 456 to the station although looking at it, I don't think it can even fit a bus service. Great Northern- Crews Hill to Bowes Park Walked home

The Overground closures meant that Battersea Park was open all day and after missing the NYEs closure because of COVID, it was nice that it's happened again.
HV345 (243)- Redvers Road to Shoreditch Church 13082 (47)- Shoreditch High Street Station to Canada Water Bus Station (Volvo buses and loud ass fans. Name a better combo)
Overground- Canada Water to Battersea Park Walked to Battersea Power Station Station Northern Line- Battersea Power Station to Leicester Square Piccadilly Line- Leicester Square to Wood Green Stopped at KFC then went home
Wrapping up the Tube Map with Thameslink next week. Could've done halfway already but with 456 turning 1 and the opportunity to go on the Overgrounds "hidden" Station, it's had to sit back a little

A couple of Outer London journeys, one recently and one from today:
Journey on the 84:
Walked to Rush Common bus stop
The 159 to St Mark's Church (LT170) - Nothing to report other than it's usual packed self at AM peak times
Walked to Oval Station bus stop
The 733 to Moorgate Station (VH38117) - thought I'd tick this off on the way. Contrary to reports, this and most 733's that day were actually being used by passengers so clearly some have clocked on to it. Traffic was actually not bad heading into town so only took the required 30 minutes to do
Great Northern service to New Barnet (Class 707) - completely identical to riding a Class 700, even the same ironing board seats
Had to let the first 84 go as it was a single decker and I was only here for a double decker so walked to a local park for a bit before returning to the first stop
The 84 to St Albans, St Peter's Street (TE886) - straight away, the biggest issue with this route is the price with a single fare (I was only going one way) being £5. That said, we did pick up the odd person on the way up to Barnet and even picked up a few at Barnet itself who wanted Potters Bar so there surely is some demand for a link even if it's relatively small. We picked up some more at Potters Bar Station and then didn't really pick up or set down until London Colney - for thrash enthusiasts, this is the best section complete with NSL section to boot that the driver took advantage of. After London Colney, the route was quiet until we crossed over the 414 where we picked up the odd person heading into St Albans
Grabbed a bite to eat and headed to the main train station which is a 10 minute walk from the town centre
Thameslink service to Herne Hill (Class 700)
The 37 to Brixton Water Lane (MHV29) - nothing to report
Walked home
Today's journey on the AZ Amazon route:
Walked to Morval Road bus stop
The 2 to Tulse Hill Tavern (HV401) - nothing to report
Southern service to Peckham Rye (Class 455)
Southeastern service to Dartford (Class 465) - I think the Networkers are probably my favourite current rolling stock, can't fault them
The AZ to Gravesend, Overcliffe (9506) - upon boarding, driver said his machine wasn't working so ended up with a free ride. This was ex Abellio 9506 and unlike outside, the inside hasn't been refreshed still containing Abellio moquette and a very rattly interior that was deafening along some of Dartford's roads. The route leaves Dartford through a new housing development and then eventually goes onto bus only roads to reach the warehouses and subsequently Amazon which has it's own bus station. From there, more bus only roads over the Dartford Tunnel and underneath the QE2 bridge before joining standard roads west of Greenhithe. Back onto more bus only roads through a another new looking development before joining the main road to Gravesend, diverting off to serve Ebbsfleet International. Very few people boarded, just me & 2 others at Dartford and they both got off at Amazon - after that, only one other boarded and he got off at Gravesend
Eventually, both the new & old driver told me this is the last stop (timetables say Gravesend Bus & Train hub, Google says Garrick Street) so got off and popped off for a bit to eat before getting the return
So as it turns out, Garrick Street stops are closed due to building new bus stop infrastructure and worse, there was next to no information directing people to the nearest stop so I managed to miss one in the process
The AZ to Dartford Station (9507) - turns out the stop was around the corner though there is no signs or even bus stop flags to tell you this, very poor. A few got on here and we only stopped twice before reaching Dartford so it could just be this has particular periods where it's more used. Unlike 9506, 9507 is in a much better state having had a refurb and it's interior is also less rattly which was good. Driver was taking no fares for some reason so I ended up with another free ride - I know Fastrack was accepting train tickets as there was an incident at Gravesend but he wasn't even checking so I don't know why no fares were being taken
Southeastern service to Peckham Rye (Class 465) - due to the issue at Gravesend, this caused a knock on effect further down the line and subsequently, our service was 6 minutes late leaving and we had to grab it from Platform 3 rather than it's usual place at Platform 1. This actually was a blessing as it cut down my wait at Peckham Rye
Southern service to Tulse Hill (Class 455)
The 432 to Brixton Water Lane (WVL332) - nothing to report
Walked home

Southern service to Peckham Rye (Class 455) Worth noting as Southern is taking all their 455's OOS very soon

Yesterday I went on a long journey and my first one where I noted down all the buses I went on in a little purple notebook:
85 FW415 (SP40065) to Gordon Road - short journey and nothing much to say. Sad these are going. Then I went into ASDA and walked to the bus station 285 TF311 (2046) - Nice ride. Saw an X26 when approaching Teddington so got off. Just missed it so walked to the next stop and got the next 285. 285 TF312 (2040) - Took this the whole way to Heathrow Central and loved seeing the 90 VMH's out the window. Still haven't ever been on one! I watched a few buses go by including some 15reg G3's on the 105. Then I decided to get on a 61-reg E400H which was departing. 278 GW280 (2410) - A true end to end. Took about an hour but was really relaxing. I've actually never been to Ruislip before! Went to a few shops and decided to get the tube back. Got a quiche for the way home. U1 RN missing (DEL2159) Midcroft to West Ruislip Station - short but sweet Got an Epping-bound Central Line train intending to go to East Acton to get a WHD. Here's where it all went to pot a bit. All hydrogens were at the eastern end of the route. At North Acton I panicked and got off when I was told East Acton was closed. Had a think - decided to scrap the hydrogens and go to Shepherds Bush. 94 S374 (BCE47029) - thought the K10's would be vastly different but turns out they're just like the D8UR's. 237 was a while away so decided to get 272 to Chiswick instead. 94 got stuck in traffic a lot but finally got off at Esmond Road. 272 V274 (DLE30325) to Turnham Green Church - nothing new. 110 AV801 (DLE30007) to Sheendale Road - I will always remember FW/AV's classic E200's. Sat in my favourite seats, second-to-last row on the right. Now for the worst one: 371 FW182 (BE37062) home - took about half an hour and got stuck in a 7 bus traffic jam at Richmond Station.
So got an e2e in on London's newest bus route and just had buckets of fun!

278 isn't that new anymore, been around for almost 2 1/2 years. Didn't know the WHDs would be back so quickly however It also isn’t London’s newest bus route. Yeah that belongs to the 733. Or the 456 if you don't count temporary services

Or the 456 if you don't count temporary services The 733 is gone, I didn’t count it as it was always a temp route despite lasting over two years and I don’t really count the 456 as it is just the W10 in a fancier skin. No I was talking about the 497, inaugurated in January 2020. London’s last true news bus route.

Jumped on a 214 today from Mornington Crescent to Kentish Town - boy that was a mistake. It was rammed to the rafters, turning people away in Camden Town etc. There really has to be a way of somehow double-decking that route (as has been said many times before). Ugh.
