Bit of a weird journey over the last few days: Spring Airlines from Ningbo Airport to Nanning (originally should of went to Beihai on another flight however due to the region needing a Covid Test flew here instead). Now here is the fun on arriving into Nanjing bus 891 (King Long single decker) to Nanjing Railways Station, high speed train to Beihai (only airport requires Covid Test - silly). Arrived into Beihai and bus 21 to Silver Beach, many buses are at the train station bus station and many are withdrawn, stayed at Crowne Plazza Silver Beach for two days and was amazed on how closer to Vietnam we were, a lot of signs in Beihai is in Vietnamese!
Time to go home so we did our Covid Test at the local Hospital (results back in 30 minutes at a cost of £1)!
Anyway bus 236 Airport Express From Silver Beach to Beihai Airport , (Yuktong Coach) cost 30p for a 25km journey to the airport checked in for the flight and no Covid Test required...(can’t make this up) anyway departed for Ningbo Airport and suddenly bad bad turbulence and enjoying the rollercoaster whilst people screaming (fly at least four times a month so turbulence doesn’t effect me) the captain came onto the PA and said we need to do a emergency descent and be diverting to the nearest airport, (still not worried because it’s usual with bad weather for a diversion) anyway a very shaky landing into Changde Airport in Hunan Province and deplaned, this is where I got impressed with Spring Airlines they were so sorry about the diversion and technical fault there was coaches waiting for us to take us to the local hotel and rebooked us for the next day at 11:00, airline representatives were at the hotel, dinner was waiting for 140 passengers and gave each passenger 1000rmb cash (£110) for the delay of 12hrs this airline is the Ryanair of China!
Went to sleep, next morning woke up and had information we either can stay for another day in Chengde and catch the 2200 the next day plane where the airline will give the same treatment from the previous night or catch the new. Schedule service at 11:00, we decided to go the next day so my wife and I managed to gain £440 for the delay and two nights hotel with all food and transportation thrown in, well done Spring Airlines.
Next day a Yuktong Coach picked us up from the hotel and drove us to the airport at 19:30, arrived in Changde Airport and plane is delayed for 45 minutes no big deal and they were asking for volunteers not to get on this flight due to weight distribution however had to get home due to work so boarded and the flight was half empty however very bumpy again) arrived Ningbo Airport and realized travel is not as easy as once was!

In the aftermath of Storm Eunice, I went and filled in all the remaining stations on the DLR (done the Beckton and Lewisham branches as well as the Stratford- Canary Wharf route. You can now paint a picture of what I had to do left).
HV170 (141)- Nightingale Road to Bank Station/Princes Street Spent about 5 minutes looking for the DLR entrance at Bank; the normal way was closed didn't read the poster properly which told me to go through the Central Line ticket hall but we move.
DLR: gonna put this in a format that will try to make sense of what I've done: Bank- Shadwell Then Shadwell- Tower Gateway Then Tower Gateway-Westferry changed for a Lewisham train to Canary Wharf using that little piece of one-way track that just misses West India Quay Then Canary Wharf- Poplar Poplar-Woolwich Arsenal Woolwich Arsenal to Stratford International (ended at Stratford International because that was the only station on that line I haven't been to yet) Walked to Stratford for a bite to eat then went to the Bus Station WHV66 on the 69 arrived; on the paper on the windscreen was Walthamstow but it was actually stopping short at Leyton, Grange Park Road (thank god for iBus there). Luckily a 158 was behind that so took that instead.
DW579 (158)- Stratford Bus Station to Waltham Park Way HV384 (34)- Crooked Billet Roundabout to Green Lanes (I always take that route if I have the opportunity. Those Volvo B5LH's suit the 34 to a T) Walked home
Just wanna lax lyrical about the DLR. My favourite service on the Tube Map. The computer controls make the movements very rollercoaster like. Has some decent views too.
Doing the Met next week but if the weather's anything similar to today's, then it's the TFL Rail West Slough branch. That could be very pricey

Went on the London Underground line that started it all: the Metropolitan Line. Done the Watford branch, Rayners Lane to Uxbridge on the piccadilly Line and Baker Street to Aldgate on the Circle Line so that left me with West Harrow on the Uxbridge branch and a trip to Buckinghamshire on the Chesham/Amersham branches.
WS133 (232)- Tottenhall Road to Golders Green Road BCE47072 (183)- North Circular Road to Harrow Bus Station (Harrow traffic was a mare. 3 183s including mine all together) Metropolitan Line- Harrow-on-the-Hill to Rayners Lane then back to Harrow-on the Hill for a Chesham train. (Absolute amazing views. Glad I saved it for a nicer day although not getting an SP on the 183 stings a little). Then Chesham to Chalfont & Latimer then changed for Amersham (not as good as Chesham unfortunately) Then finally Amersham to Baker Street Ended up with -7.12. Turns out I may have exceeded the maximum time so had to use my card instead for the rest of the trip.
VH45226 (18)- Baker Street Station to Euston Station LT226 (73)- Euston Station to Newington Green 141 was on a crazy delay, 18 minutes I would've waited for it so had to take an alternative. HV332 (341)- Newington Green to Manor House Station/Woodberry Grove to Wood Green Station HV230 (29)- Manor House Station/Woodberry Grove to Wood Green Station Walked home
One of the longest journeys I've done in a while. Worth it but maybe could've done a little better with the maximum fare thing. Maybe I should've tapped out at Chesham and then tapped back in, I don't know. Doing the PurpleLizzie line Reading branch next week to wrap up the Tube Map (oh wait Thameslink's been added now)

Back again with another journey. Did TFL Rail Reading branch today. Won't be long before we can finally call it Crossrail.
Walk to Wood Green Station
Piccadilly line- Wood Green to Holborn Central line- Holborn to Northolt BCE47051 (X140)- Northolt Station to Hayes and Harlington Station Tfl Rail- Hayes and Harlington to Reading (almost missed this one) Went back down to Slough via GWR VW1387 (81)- Slough Bus Station to Hounslow Bus Station (saw an E400H parked up in some garage not far from Colnbrook. Saw a Omnicity there too) Walked to Hounslow East Station. Very nice station. Looks like a dumbed down version of the stations that were improved for TFL Rail. Piccadilly line- Hounslow East to Wood Green Walked home
That would've been 99% of the Tube Map done with T4 reopening in July but TFL decided to add Thameslink as recently as January so the adventure isn't over yet...

I'm personally not counting Thameslink as part of it so for me, it's just a few bits of the Overground and the Olympia branch on the District as I did the western part of TfL Rail a couple of Tuesdays ago

I'm due to ride route 81 from Slough to Hounslow, at least as far as Hounslow West, in 3 weeks from now. My train back to Slough will be a GWR class 387, so that my first ride on a class 345 will be on CrossRail later this year.

This is my favourite thread on this forum. I like reading other people’s adventures.
I’ve often thought I must be strange to enjoy riding buses all day. So it’s a comfort to know I’m not the only one !
It also occurs to me that ( viewers of After Life will know what I mean here) that my seat on a bus traversing through London and beyond is actually my “calm bench”. Instead of a static wooden bench with a view, my seat is on a bus travelling through the most wonderful city I know.

Agreed - a long ride Up Front Up Top is great - so much extra is visible and the best architecture on the high street is often above the shop front

I personally love that front seat on the upper deck and doing end to ends (did ~220 end to ends in a year before this covid stuff happened!).

Instead of a static wooden bench with a view, my seat is on a bus travelling through the most wonderful city I know. I think the views and stress relief is what really made my love for buses flourish. Although recently (annoyingly) I'm not getting the same satisfaction. I've tried to do it many times lately, but I'm starting to come on to relax just to leave the bus with my blood pressure higher than when I boarded due to the constant regulation and waiting in the cold for widened frequencies. Did try to do the W15 yesterday, route was in a state (nothing new for a first day) but ignoring that the other routes I used were also a total mess. I took a 58 to Walthamstow to try and enjoy the ride instead of getting the Goblin for 10 minutes. I got an MV, but before I knew it I was stuck in Green Street traffic, we were being made to regulate throughout Forest Gate and in Leyton and the approach to Blackhorse Road it was roadwork galore. There was one point we didn't move at all for around 15 minutes as two sets of roadworks were so close to each other that one set of lights led to the contraflow on another set being blocked. Ended up making it to Walthamstow almost 2 hours later after getting on at East Ham. I did the W15, and ended up turned to Homerton Hospital. I managed to get a 425 pretty soon but it was quite cold. I made myself comfortable but the 20 zones throughout Hackney were a total pain. The roads were empty and we were crawling, we were getting nowhere fast. I thought to myself that I should bail at Mile End and get a 323, when we eventually got to Mile End the 323 was over 25 minutes away (funny on a route that takes 20 minutes end to end). I decided to slog it out to Stratford to get the 238 or 262, but once we managed to make it there there was a 238 and 262 leaving behind each other, I took a quick look on LVF to see when the next ones were and the 238 had four buses stuck in traffic at Upton Park while the 262 was in another state. I decided to just stay on the 425 to Ilford, but by this point the bus was packed out solid and every seat was taken. We got caught in a heap of traffic by the A406 just for an EL1 to pull away just as we arrived. After freezing in the cold another EL1 came, but as soon as we turned the corner it seems the EL1 I missed was still loading up. We got stuck in a load of traffic along Ilford Lane which is nothing new. By the time I got to Barking I couldn't wait to be home. I couldn't wait to just turn the TV on with the heating once I'd walked in. Once upon a time I'd feel sad when it was time to make my way home, these days I couldn't be more glad. It's just frustration after frustration. Buses that are always cold, buses with long gaps, far too much traffic and far too many roadworks. It's no surprise that everyone else I know just asks me why I don't go for a drive instead.

Did some rail replacement bashing today because why not District Line- Home to Barking C2C - Barking to London Fenchurch Street District Line - Tower Hill to Monument Walk - Monument to London Bridge Thameslink - London Bridge to East Croydon Tram - East Croydon to Church Street Walk - Church Street to Reeves Corner 407 - Reeves Corner to West Croydon Bus Station Southern Rail Replacement - West Croydon to Sutton (This Tridentviro certainly knew how to rev) Southern Rail Replacement - Sutton to West Croydon 109 - West Croydon Bus Station to Montague Road Popped into Lidl Walk - to West Croydon Station London Overground - West Croydon to Norwood Junction Thameslink - Norwood Junction to London Bridge (perfect connection from the LO) Jubilee Line - London Bridge to Stratford Nice brisk walk through Stratford Centre 308 - Stratford Centre to Stratford City Bus Station CL-5 - Stratford City to Woodford Station (Quite a hefty gap in the service due to traffic so bus was full from the get go) CL-6 - Woodford Station to Newbury Park Station (Nice and tranquil route, barely picked up passengers and was a nice break from the hectic nature of the CL-5) 66 - Newbury Park Station to Redbridge Station (Fun sunset run down the A12) CL-4 - Redbridge Station to Stratford City and back (Nice Driver and a nice Tridentviro for a rounder) 366 - Redbridge Station to Coventry Road 364 - Beal Road to Home

I've at least done the whole Sutton Loop from at least Tulse Hill and have done Herne Hill to Luton in the past so those bits are already ticked off for me.
