I enjoyed reading your report and 276 routes completed is one heck of a lot, bravo! - I recently did C11 Brent Cross - Archway then after a coffee W5 Archway - Harringay Sainsbury's and it's grueling, particularly in the hot weather. Re your trip you should get extra points for having a beer at 9am in a pub that's also a bus stop (!) and regarding longest single-deckers 232 must be up there as one of the longest...? The 493 too - both it and the 232 are just a mile shorter than the 314.

You think 276 is a lot, try doing all standard daytime routes at one point 😂 Sadly I’m back to about less than 10 left to go due to extensions and diversions

“I vow to never take 232 in its full length again. Wow,” he says while planning to take both 314 and 358 on the same day.

I've travelled on around 300 routes, but most not end to end. To 'count' the route I have to take an 'acceptable' photo of the bus at time of travel which isn't always easy for any number of reasons. I'm inspired enough to start focusing more on end to end routes and to count the route I would want to complete the route end to end on one bus in one journey and for obvious reasons I'll focus initially on 11, 14, 88, 242, 349 etc. The first end to end I consciously set out to do was one of the easiest and most pleasant - all 15 minutes of W7 Finsbury Park Station - Muswell Hill Broadway on VW1824 in July 2021...and on a Sunday afternoon!

My plan as follows - EARLY Sunday morning Elizabeth Line to Ealing Broadway / 112 to Conduit Way (on North Circular) / walk to Mitchell Way / 232 to Turnpike Lane Station / sit back and enjoy an emptyish A406

That appears to be a very sensible compromise and adopted: apart from anything else must make the journey much more relaxing not being on tenterhooks in case an abrupt early turn happens.

285 Heathrow Airport Central TF Abellio London 2041 SK20BEY E40D 10.4m Enviro 400MMC - Not much to say about this.
H98 Hounslow, Bus Station AV London United ADH45026 YX62FDY E400H 10.2m Enviro 400H - Nice to get one of the ADHs. Haven't had one for about a year now. Nice quick driver which was very fortunate.
H91 Hammersmith, Bus Station V London United VH45180 LJ16EWB Volvo B5LH 10.6m Wright Gemini 3 - Happy to once again get a VH. Thanks to the speed of the H98 driver I was able to make this connection on time. Usually I'm always waiting for 10 minutes!
295 Ladbroke Grove, Sainsburys WJ Metroline VWH2123 LK65EAY Volvo B5LH 10.6m Wright Gemini 3 - Not much to say about this ride.
18 Euston RP London United VH45198 LJ16EWX Volvo B5LH 10.6m Wright Gemini 3 - first time on route 18. Two came at once with the one behind overtaking to serve the next stop. This bus was making an odd buzzing noise on the top deck. Ride was mostly the two buses leapfrogging each other for the whole journey.
30 Marble Arch KC Metroline VMH2488 LK18AHX Volvo B5LH 10.5m MCV EvoSeti - Bus was mostly empty when I came to use it at Euston. Not much to say about this route.
94 Acton Green S London United BCE47023 LB69JRU BYD DD 10.9m Enviro 400 City EV - Not much to say about this ride.
237 Hounslow Heath AH Metroline VW1053 LK10BXY Volvo B9TL 10.2m Wright Eclipse Gemini 2 - Not much to say aobut this ride.
116 Ashford Hospital WK London United SP40169 YT10UWG N230UD 10.8m Scania OmniCity - Nice Scania to wrap up the day. A shame they are leaving so soon.
This is actually the first time where I've not had to wait longer than 5 minutes for a bus!

Went to West London to try RATP's Citaro Ks (didn't want to do them initially as I thought they were just a shorter version of the 358's Mercedes but we move)
HV231(?) 221- Haringey Civic Centre to Turnpike Lane Station (Forgot the fleetnumber but I remember a 1 being at the end and a quick check on LVF showed that this was the only bus out with a 1 at the end so must be the one. Anyway by doing that little bit thats the 221 ticked off) Piccadilly line- Turnpike Lane to King's Cross St Pancras Victoria line- King's Cross St Pancras to Vauxhall Southwestern Railway- Vauxhall to Barnes Took a replacement bus from Barnes to Syon Lane (it was an ex-GAL Gemini 1. Anyone know it's fleet number. The reg was S555 SGL) Somehow I missed the H28 despite arriving a minute early. Didn't want to wait until 8pm for the next one so I just walked to West Middlesex Hospital MCM30008 (117)- West London Mental Health Trust to Staines Bus Station (there was a small diversion in Ashford which was a little annoying. Gonna have to come back to finish that off. Really should check these things) The shopping centre was closed so just walked to Staines station Southwestern railway- Staines to London Waterloo Northern line- Waterloo to Leicester Square (wanted to see the new Bank Station but wasn't even on the right branch. That was have to wait) Piccadilly line- Leicester Square to Wood Green Walked home

Had a pretty epic 11 hour bus journey today and did six e2es:
207 to Shepherds Bush 94 to Marble Arch 36 to Camberwell Green 484 to Lewisham Station - quite a pleasant route passes through some interesting ideas and has a lovely friendly local feel to it 129 to North Greenwich - didn't have strong feelings on this one, its alright 486 to Bexleyheath - thought this was a really interesting route for the most part though the dull Welling-Bexleyheath section let it down 301 to Woolwich - a mixed bag with some lovely scenery around Bostal Hill but also some incredibly boring residential areas 54 to Elmers End - pretty nice route on the whole especially enjoyed the Woolwich-Lewisham section, less exciting through Beckenham and Elmers End 356 to Shirley Walk to Shrublands 198 to Thornton Heath - really enjoyed the route as far as Croydon (reminded me how much I liked the 119) but unremarkable beyond there 468 to West Norwood 432 to Brixton 37 to Clapham Junction 295 to Fulham Broadway 306 to Acton Vale 207 Home

The 54 has always been a bit of an iconic route for me, I think it's outrageous that it no longer goes to Croydon but I digress and I can certainly understand your comments about the 198.

A little intrigue I feel about route 486 is how it effectively by-passes Woolwich.
