What examples of road layouts, bus stop arrangements and signal phasings and timings that needless contribute to delays to buses?
I can think of 2 examples
Euston Bus Station
The stops for the 59/68 and 253 should be swapped to create parallel move opportunities to increase throughput and improve reliability Eversholt Street between Euston Road and the bus station is just shy of 4 lanes wide - there's plenty of room to make it into a proper 4-lane road which would reduce congestion and improve reliability The turning onto Euston Road from Churchway should be given more Green time to reflect the volume of buses passing through.
Trafalgar Square eastbound approach
Buses heading towards the Strand should use Pall Mall East while buses heading towards Whitehall should continue to use Cockspur Street. Each road should have a bus lane and a traffic lane. The final approach to the roundabout can be widened to 3 lanes so buses from the two roads can merge without conflict. This replaces a series of conflicting moves (bus stops and merging with traffic from Pall Mall East) into a pair of parallel moves, would reduce congestion and improve journey time and reliability.
Any other examples and suggestions?

This set of ATS is UTC controlled meaning it is adjusted to demand and traffic flow on sites around it, or may be part of a wider traffic plan, they don't have fixed timings as such.

The Victoria one way system isn't particularly great for route 24, also the 11, 148, 211 and 507 (Westminster direction). Victoria Station to Westminster Cathedral is around 7 minutes by bus but only 2 minutes walking. Obviously the major works around Victoria and the loss of Allington Street haven't helped things, but by the end of it and the reopening of the bus station, I'd like to see the short piece of Victoria Street (between Wilton Road and Bressenden Place) to have a special bus lane to allow for 2 way bus traffic- similar to the layouts outside Brixton Academy or Tulse Hill Station. It would greatly reduce delays on the mentioned bus routes!

Traffic light phasings - the lights on Clapham Park Road at Clapham Common heading towards Clapham Junction are ridiculously timed - just under 5 seconds for traffic to get past it. The worst one though is the lights on Brixton Hill at the A23/A205 junction towards Streatham - around 5 seconds for traffic to pass and as a result, traffic can back up at times to New Park Road.
Bus Stop arrangements - the bus stops in Brixton are a little muddled when it comes to grouping routes together at stops. Currently:
Northbound
Bus stop R contains the 3, 59, 109, 159, 355, N3 & N159 Bus stop S contains the 118, 133, 415 & N133 Bus stop T contains the 2, 35, 45, 196, 250, 333, 432, P4, N2 & N35
Southbound
Bus stop N contains the 3, 35, 355, P4, N3 & N35 Bus stop P contains the 2, 196, 415, 432 & N2 Bus stop Q contains the 45, 59, 109, 118, 133, 159, 250, 333, N109 & N133
My props would be:
Northbound
Bus stop R would contain the 3, 59, 133, 159, 415, N3, N109 & N133 Bus stop S would contain the 35, 45, P4 & N35 Bus stop T would contain the 2, 109, 118, 196, 250, 333, 355, 432 & N2
Southbound
Bus stop N would contain the 35, 355, P4 & N35 Bus stop P would contain the 2, 3, 196, 415, 432, N2 & N3 Bus stop Q remains the same
Northbound terminating buses alighting point would be moved from Bus stop T to Bus stop C on Stockwell Road.

Mitcham Fair Green bus stop H:
Had always thought the bus stop bay is too small considering how many buses serve that stop. Also it's quite difficult to pull out safely as you can't see the traffic approaching from Holborn Way until the last minute. This is due to the bend in the road directly behind the bus stop... not to mention that the stop is barely out of the junction of Holborn Way, Western Road and Raleigh Gardens.

Not sure about the rearrangement of routes northbound as all terminating buses (barring the 432 for some reason) sensibly simply pull right to the front regardless where they are meant to stop. It's still a pain to try and serve the 133 stop as it's in the middle so you either end up stuck right back on the 2 stop or you find yourself marooned in the outside lane waiting for a chance to pull in (and bringing Brixton to a standstill!). Not really much you can do about it as it is an extremely busy set of stops on a very busy road. The only way I can see of dealing with it is to actually extend a couple of those terminating services northward from Brixton over the busy loading city-bound services and reduce (yes, really!) dwell time. Maybe the 109 to Stockwell or Vauxhall and the 250 to Camberwell or Kennington. Moz

Always get frustrated with the 425 around Homerton Hospital, especially towards Clapton, why they did not address this when the contract was renewed I do not know.
Also the traffic lights inside Canning Town bus station, the buses going round can wait for up to 2 minutes, why does it not have a crossing like they do at other stations like Walthamstow. This effects the 115 especially.

It can actually take upwards of 5 mins to get round the station depending on how many buses are waiting. Which is why when I'm at the front I check to see if anyone wants the crossing and if anything is coming down the hill and run it. Completely ridiculous set of lights considering its there to keep buses flowing. What about the lights on stockwell road/Brixton going southbound? All the buses (2/196/322/333) turn right to go onto Brixton road towards Brixton station but when the lights change only one bus can get through due to the traffic coming up Gresham road. Its one of the most annoying lights I know. A simple extension for the green light to stay on for at least 2 seconds would make a big difference

This has to be one of the more difficult stops to serve as its one of the few stops I know where I have to check both side mirrors constantly especially as its a busy area. Personally, the bay shouldn't be there as it would make it easier to leave the stop, and they should get rid of the railings there as well.
