Back in the late 1980's into the 1990's I recall there were one off garage allocations to night routes to enhance the service. Off the top of my head i know that Fulwell ran on the N93 & N92 , and AV used to put extras on the N89.
I think FW ran the all night circular bus from Aldwych one year.
This year i see the 216 & C1 are making their first appearance as 24 hour services on NYE.
Used to be a very interesting night spotting usually closed at night garages running on night routes.

Will be interesting to see if Merton keeps her doors open right through, helping A with more than one N155 bus.
I also used to miss the old Boxing Day services where routes were longer than their standard routing. The 37 for example was extended beyond Putney Station via the 337 to Richmond.

Well spotted about the 216 and C1. TfL have tweaked the list over the last few days as the original draft was incorrect - it showed the W4 as running and the W7 not. That's been corrected. It looks like we've lost the 262 from last year but the 215 is also running which is a bit of a surprise but I understand buses towards Chingford from Walthamstow have been overloaded in past years so running the 215 is probably cheaper than further enhancing the 97 or N26. We lost the 135 on NYE night 2 years ago. Thank goodness Mr Munster is fastidious in recording this stuff to allow year on year comparisons. If the weather is half tolerable I might have to wander out with my camera to take some local NYE shots.

Oh yes, I used to go on Boxing Day trips to Richmond on the extended 37. A nice day out!

Mr Munster has updated the details for the NYE night services. NYE servicesThere is timetable info for a lot, but not all, of the day services which will run all night. Interesing uni-directional supplementary service on the 188 from the O2 to Surrey Quays and 161 to Woolwich. Also some "non standard" headways on routes - every 13 mins on the W7 and every 18 mins on the 275.

Route 176 is enhanced to every 15 minutes on NYE, instead of every 20 mins which is the Fri/Sat evening timetable which is normally in operation on Dec 31.

From a random browse there seems to be a fair bit of enhancement. The 65, 72 and 285 are every 15 minutes and the 281 is every 20 minutes. It'll be interesting to see how much normal night buses are enhanced. I doubt you could enhance the night 29 without having a queue of buses nose to tail from Tottenham Court Rd to Wood Green.

Route 188 is also running every 15 minutes on NYE. It would relieve crowding on route N1 between Greenwich and Holborn. But I don't think N1 is that heavily used after it goes beyond Surrey Quays, sometimes when I see it, it doesn't have much passengers on it.

The Camberwell to Forest Hill corridor does pretty well on NYE. 4 buses per hour on Route 176 and three on Route 185 which once again becomes a 24 hour route for the night.
I'm assuming Route 12 will have the normal Fri into Saturday night service, which is every 15 mins.

Night Bus N47 could do to need a increase for this NYE coz last year was so horrible and some r luck to get on this N47 and some r unlucky to wait longer for it. I know route 208 could help out between Lewisham and Orpington but it could not help out on between TQ and Lewisham. I wish N47 could do extra between London Bridge and Lewisham could help out!

When I was talking about the N1, I was not referring to New Year's Eve, I was referring to the normal service of N1. As I said sometimes when I see the N1, it does have passengers on it but not much. I don't know if it's heavily used along the Charlton/Woolwich/Plumstead/Abbey Wood or Thamesmead area but I was talking in general about the N1 collecting passengers in Deptford and I have witnessed it does not collect much passengers.
I also said the 188 would relieve overcrowding on NYE as that day is a busy day and N1 runs every 30 mins on that day. The 188 runs every 15 mins so that would relieve overcrowding on the N1 as the 188 can come quicker.

The timetables are very interesting reading - Mr. Munster really does a brilliant job! Just a quick question though, would these NYE timetables be an accurate reflection if a daytime route got made into a 24 hour route (for example would the timetable be a fair representation of say, an all night 51 or 422, or what-have-you?) - definitely very interesting stuff.
With the N1 thing - that route is absolutely horrible! I live in Plumstead and the N1 goes to the top of my road - but I will always get a 53 and walk the last bit from the station. It is horribly busy from Central London, and while a lot do alight in the Surrey Quays area a fair few do continue along the rest of it. It's not just the busy-ness of it, the route takes forever and round Surrey Quays and Bermondsey seems to take an age.......
However, very impressed with the 53, the condition of the vehicles and the very professional attitude of the staff on it are a credit to PD.

Mr M has added the N86 timetable - every 7-8 minutes between Romford and Stratford! That's some service level when you chuck in the 25 as well as far as Ilford.
