Something should be done about this route. Every day, the route is getting more and more overcrowded with most people being left behind at bus stops. The high demand for the route is basically between Catford and Surrey Quays, Lewisham and Deptford are the worst. I suggest maybe the 47 should get a new timetable with PVR increased and the frequency decreased to every 8 minutes or so. The 199 helps route 47 between Catford and Canada Water and is also overcrowded in the Mornings and Afternoons but is lightly used in the evenings but some people prefer to use 47 as it is a shorter route towards places like Deptford, Surrey Quays etc. than 199 which is longer to get there. I don't use the route all the time, but from what I've seen it seems to cope. I've probably only seen overcrowding once or twice on the route, but it's not too bad. Maybe a small frequency increase is needed, but other than that there's plenty of alternative routes to take. Unforunately, the route is always overcrowded and it doesn't cope. The 47 is one of my local routes and during the school hours, it is overcrowded. Even on weekends aswell, it has a fair load of passengers. The 47 should run at least every 6-8 minutes rather than 10 as it is heavily used. The only alternative routes you can take from Lewisham to somewhere like Deptford or Surrey Quays is the 199 and 225. The 225 is also overcrowded most days and also is the 199. The 199 is mostly overcrowded during the school hours but lightly used in the night and some people around the Deptford/Surrey Quays area would prefer to take the 47 rather than 199 or 225 as it goes direct to Lewisham and it doesn't serve Greenwich or New Cross.

At peak times the 47 could do with a 5min frequency, at least between Shoreditch and Lewisham.

A wheelchair user couldn't board the bus today as the lower deck was full. The wheelchair space was used up by two buggies unfortunately. This just doesn't seem fair.
