Hi all!!
Does anyone own a turbo diesel car, van or MPV, regardless of make or model? I want to know if engine remapping is a good idea on a turbo engine that's done 80,000 miles with a full service history.
Also has anyone used the additive known as Reddex? I have read various reviews and the majority say it is good for cleaning up the carbon deposits and increasing horsepower, torque and throttle response. Apparently similar cleaning products do little or nothing in comparison to Reddex.
Any comments and advice welcomed!!

Before I retired my company provided us with Vauxhall Vectras, which utilises the Izuzu Japanese engine. The cars were regularly maintained and to my knowledge no additives were used. I did a good mixture of in town and motorway driving. These vehicles were kept for 3 years or 100K which ever came first. When mine were replaced they had on average 90-95K on the clock, and I can honestly say I didn't notice any significant drop off of performance. That Izuzu engine was built like a tank, and I think the same engine is used in the FX4 taxi.

Thanks on that is John, but basically I was talking more on derestricting engines. I was told that car engines, particularly diesels, can be remapped to give up to 30% more performance in the torque and bhp.... and still safely be within their engine tolerance. They are generally governed at the production plant partially because of UK road conditions, which differ in comparison to some European landscapes where the engine there would need to work harder.
Cars are often governed because they may have the same engine as some of their sports variants, which would not be restricted.
It's basically similar to the B7TL Volvos where most of the London examples are 215 hp instead of 250 hp.
