Has anyone noticed whether TfL are rationalising the numbers of bus stops in certain areas?
I'm talking about where there used to be two bus stops serving split groups of services and they've been amalgamated into just one stop serving all routes. This has happened a few times in Waltham Forest recently and I wondered if it was part of a wider initiative to reduce maintenance of stops, shelters and also I-Bus / Countdown data.

The opposite has happened in Brixton involving bus stop Z. That bus stop was served by the 2, 3, 37, 196, 415, 432, 690, N2 & N3 but now only serves the 2, 415, 432 & N2 with a new stop (Bus stop ZA) having been erected for the 3, 37, 196, 690 & N3 not long after the Windrush Square works a few years back.

I have noticed that. Walthamstow Market Bus Stop for example. But i look at the recently opened new station at Dalston Junction. It must have 3 big shelters, to serve one bus, the 488, so really they could have easily had 1 shelter there. (What a waste of an investment by the way, as I dont think many buses can curtail there as you can only exit taking a right). Also, note that according to Leon Daniels, there may not be an increase in countdown machines due to the lack of funding, but he has promised that none will be removed therefore combining shelters will mean that that the no longer used countdown machine will (or should) be used somewhere else. The Walthamstow Market bus stop had 2, now it has none, I would complain about it, but I thought I will wait to see if they bring it back. I would encourage people to complain or note any stops that have had a countdown removed. Split bus stops can be confusing and unnecessary. Take the a bus from Clapton to Bethnal Green for example, and the number of times the buses are split and then combine and split again is amazing.

There used to be 2 stops at Richmond station however since they pavemented over the old taxi rank and drop off point outside the station there has only been one. the problem this creates is that i believe there are 12?? Routes all serving one stop, not unusual to have 5 or 6 in a row sometimes meaning a great ongoing walk to the end bus where by the time you get to it is full, or worse the bus drives past the rest and leaves you there. i think split stops are mother unnecessary where there is this many routes.

There used to be two stops for Oxford Circus Station (southbound on Regent Street) but is now one with some of the routes no longer serving it such as the route 3, 12, 88 and 453.
There two bus stops in Lambeth Palace. One for routes 3/N3 and the other for route 344. TFL really needs to rationalise these stops as its unnecessary. If two buses on the route 3 are serving the stop then all traffic has to hold back as the central reservation stops traffic from crossing onto the oncoming lane

I noticed the one at bell corner.
The 275 had a stop further back so it was easier for it to get into the right turn lane now it's all one stop if its at the front it. can take 2 cycles of the lights for it to be able to get over stupid idea as the length of the stop hasn't changed so why remove one shelter.

High Street North and Newham Town Hall in East Ham have had them removed for some reason . westhamgeezer, the last time I was there that combined bus stop in Richmond had kept the existing name of "The Quadrant" and not renamed after the station. I have only been there once since the works were done and this was like 8 months ago, I got caught out by that change and had to instead get another bus back from the next stop In Hounslow one of the "Treaty Centre" stops just had "Buses terminating at Hounslow" on it but a few months ago they added the numbers of all the routes stopping there.

Ealing Broadway. Bus stop for routes 112 and N7 was removed a month ago. Routes 112 and N7 now use the stop right in front of the station together with routes 65, E2 and E8.

And I noticed yesterday that the Walthamstow Market stops for services heading south have lost their bus shelters *and* their Countdown signs. This means we have lost 4 bus shelters and 4 Countdown signs and 1 bus stop in one small area.

Stops in Welling have been moved about the stop outside Morrisons towards Bexleyheath has been moved back towards Welling corner. On the opposite side of the road there used to be different stops for the 96 and other routes this has now been joined into one and the stop halfway between where the two used to be plus the countdown sign has not been reinstated.
