Fact , the Met Police will be vacating their car pound in Charlton in next 12 months. Rumour , an unknown bus operator is interested in purchasing the lease.
The location is beside the A2, in Bramshot Avenue. Could house over 150 buses.

I don't think people live there and around won't be happy to have buses pass tough early to late . Plus how buses can able to get though to this road lead to Bramshot av.

Better yet, it could be Abellio seeing as they're doing SO well...

Horrible location to get to from the main road to Charlton (I had to recover a stolen BMW from there in Feb - hasten to add it was mine ) tucked round the back of some backstreets, all with Islington-eqsue speed bumps - there is quite a bit of space inside the pound... I guess Arriva Kent Thamside / Stagecoach / Go-Ahead could be potential tenants if the site was suitable. Police sites take an age to sell (looks across road at Brentford Police Station)

I think the site is leased to the Met Police at present. In some ways ideal spot. Local residents already tolerate tow trucks 24/7. Hemmed in by A2 and railway lines. Ill try and find out some more.

I can really only see Abellio buying it, seeing as TT and CT are north River Operators, and Stagecoach and Arriva still have some decent space

Yes, the 286. But it's been lost by AKT, to GAL. The 160 isn't too far away though, nearer to Catford, than Sidcup is to Dartford. Charlton isn't in Kent, so it would be part of Arriva London South. Lots of potential routes Arriva could win in the area. Maybe any DLAs/VLAs/MK1 DWs/VLWs made redundant from NBfL or other hybrid conversions could move there to operate routes, that would be quite exciting! (for me at least). Could become the next BE or SI or GR!

Unfortunately those buses will be deemed too old to start a new contract, plus TfL one firms to withdraw euro2 and relevant euro3 engined buses from London service by the end of next year (except those to be treated with the Eminox system). As for possible tender gains it would indeed be a stronger hold position for them to bid for routes, particularly in the nearby Greenwich area.

I wonder if it could possibly be Arriva trying to build a garage there? It might give them a chance to get 180 in 2016 and 188 in 2015/2017 although I wouldn't want them to.

If this rumoured operator is true, then I hope its Arriva, maybe then they could convert part of DT to making sure they actually have serviceable buses by actually maintaining them - god help the DT open day on 7th September!!!

I would have thought the refuelling would be too dangerous to have right next to residents houses and also with only one entrance/exit road could be another hazard.
Just a thought.

There would also be a problem in that the buses parked up would have parts nicked off them by the engineers to use as spares for the normal buses!!
