That's the end of that! Now how long before the roads open. The diversions in Woodford, Walthamstow, WHipps Cross and Leyton have all been lifted and buses are running back to LOR. Bizarrely the 397 is not showing on LVF or Countdown despite the fact it was supposed to run in sections. Nothing on TfL Live Bus Departures either. I imagine Ruckholt Road, Olympic Park and Stratford will follow soon in terms of services returning to normal but may take bit longer for the bit via Plaistow and Silvertown to reopen. Most annoying thing was not feeling well enough to go and see the race and even watching it on TV nearly missed the bit through Walthamstow and Leyton because of the shoddy camera work and forever switching to shots of Central London from the helicopters. <grump>

The Tour de France caused a lot of chaos today in Bow Church, especially on Fairfield road. I'm talking about stuff like no route 8 for 25 minutes because the buses are taking ages to leave the garage and Fairfield Road. The 205 was also heavily affected but not as much as the 8. In the morning, GAL had around 6-7 E200's standing at Bow Church W/B, meaning that other buses couldn't stop properly. Also, the 276 was heavily affected. At 1700, there were 4 buses towards Stoke Newington and 18 towards Newham. When I say towards Newham, I mean 1 going to Newham Hospital and the others going to Bow Church. Another thing, Mile End bus stand was overflowing due to all the 25's to Mile End. GAL also had a few extra Geminis which meant there was no space left for the poor SCG E200's.

I'm guessing the Tour De France was the reason the 159 has extras today doing Brixton to Lambeth North shorts?

Other routes appeared quite strangely on there as well. Presumably with the 397, as it was in two sections, and had Buckhurst Hill Station as a terminus which isn't usually served, perhaps it was too much for the iBus system? I had a look in Loughton to see how the buses were doing, and the 397s towards Buckhurst Hill were displaying blank blinds with '397 Buckhurst Hill' on paper on the windscreen. All the 20s and 397s I saw were completely empty, which is unsurprising really. And the constant switching to shots of central London was quite frustrating! Doesn't central London get enough attention?? They missed out a large section of Epping Forest which could have looked great on camera, but presumably reception was too bad with all the trees. I was also having a look at the EssexPT twitter feed. Instead of having useful information for bus passengers, they were just retweeting pictures of Le Tour.

Just been thinking Docklands SI garage will be completely cut off for the day. It was, which meant that in the morning there were A LOT of E200's standing at Bow Church, which caused a bit of mayhem. Also, Mile End stand had around 7 Geminis in the morning.

Some very extensive bus route changes are due on 7 July 2014 when the Tour de France hits town. TfL have now updated their website with a series of maps showing the extension of diversions / curtailments. linkHighlights include the 25 running express via the A12, no 241 / 262 / 473 at all, no buses on Lea Bridge Road, 123 running via the Billet and A406, several routes split in half (e.g. 339) or severely curtailed. I fear a lot of people will be caught out as local journeys won't be possible. Being a natural born cynic whenever money and sport are mentioned in the same breath(Seth Blatter? ) It can only be for money that the UK is now part of France, the organisers probably used a 1066 map or is this a LibDem plot to make us think we are all in Europe anyway, so don't let those nasty UKIP people tell you otherwise. To cut down on the chaos it will cause why not route them thru' the Crossrail tunnels? Now it's back in France, two things I will remember with irony: 1)None of the competitors riding on pavements, and 2) I love this-a cyclist on the road hit by a selfie in East London.

One last TdF related item is the fact that the Hendymaster RM1005 and Chaleurmaster [1] LT120 took place in the "caravan" on the Champs Elysee Paris yesterday. Mr Hendy drove the LT and Mr Daniels drove the RM. (Twitter and TfL press release are the sources of this).
[1] a small joke french spelling of Heatmaster.
