consultations.tfl.gov.uk/betterjunctions/oval?cid=fs191consultations.tfl.gov.uk/cycling/cs5-inner Today TFL has come out with two consultations. All good for cyclists and pedestrians but for us busrists and the motorists don't seem so. Look like the eastbound bus lane on Vauxhall Bridge is being removed which is a mistake as buses will now likely end up in traffic jams and on Harleyford Road the eastbound bus lane is being converting to a segregated cycle lane. At least on Kennington Park Road southbound there going to be a new bus lane. But northbound at the Kennington Park Road/Kennington Road seems like TFL want traffic to head do to Waterloo, not E&C?

The problem with all these separate consultations is that it's impossible to understand how all the schemes interact and how they might impact the road network and buses in particular.
We've got schemes listed for Kings Cross, a north south route following Blackfriars Road, Elephant and Castle, Oval, Vauxhall and up through Pimlico plus the big scheme along the Embankment. Quite what all this lot will do to routes 45, 63 and 100 is not known given they'll be most affected. I wonder if TfL are making an unspoken assumption that bus demand will decline on this corridor once the Thameslink project has completed bringing a higher frequency.

On the junction 4 Brixton Road could the cycle lane use part of the pavement as like in Bow Church to allow space for a third lane for buses before joining the road at the box junction? Could the last bit of Brixton Road outer lanes become bus lanes? Since at Junction 2 all traffic northbound would join Brixton Road in one lane.

Well that's every bus route traveling through Oval buggered, then.

Well that's every bus route traveling through Oval buggered, then. Moz Just looked at the Oval plans and they look an absolute pile of rubbish - is there really a need to start banning motor traffic from turning left in three places. The consequence of banning traffic turning left into Brixton Road from Camberwell New Road will be traffic using Vassall Road & Cranmer Road instead. Same with Fentiman Road which Kennington Oval bound traffic will use. Then, we have the worst one - banning traffic turning left from Kennington Road into Kennington Park Road meaning traffic will resort to using Kennington Lane resulting in more traffic being funnelled through the Kennington Lane/Kennington Park Road junction which is horrible during the peaks.
