I see on London Bus Routes that the 274 is getting some interesting frequency enhancements at weekends for the Summer. It will run every 6 minutes late Sunday afternoons which is more frequent than any other time period during the week. I assume this is because of a massive surge of people on the route in the Camden Town area with people visiting the area / doing their shopping.
Other than the N29 being more frequent on weekend nights than the day service I can't think of a route that is more frequent at a typically "quiet" time than during the normal peak hours. This is a sort of return to the old days on Sunday routes being enhanced or extended to cater for leisure travel.

That'll probably be down to trips generated by the London Zoo.
The N35 is more frequent on weekend nights than it is during the evenings.

I've always wonder why they don't Double Deck the route, are there any restrictions? I can't think of a physical restriction off the top of my head but as it serves some fairly built up areas between Camden and Angel it might well be an agreement between TfL and local residential associations. One way round this could be to swap the top ends of the 214 and 274 so the 214 ran Lancaster Gate - Liverpool Street and the 274 Highgate Village - Angel. The 214 could then be converted to Double Deck, the 274 retaining current vehicles, but would need a bit of rejigging in Camden so it could still serve Camden Town Station. Moz

Moz My memory might be playing tricks again but I thought there was a restriction on the Camden to Islington section? Certainly no restriction on the other bit though which was previously part of the 74 route. Interesting idea about the 214/274 change.

Moz I thought there might be an issue on the w/b section near Camden Road Station where it ducks under the NLL. However the clearance is shown as 15 foot so no issue there for double deckers. Clearly the Camden Town - Lancaster Gate section has had double decks in the past so there's no issue there.
