Undortunately the route runs on a London Service Permit, therefore Oyster cards & TFL passes aren't vaild

In the operators own timetable booklet it states "TfL Bus Passes and Travelcards can be used on route 477 for journeys within the area between Orpington and Crouch Farm". This does not include Oyster PAYG.
Crouch Farm is the London boundary halfway between St. Mary Cray and Crockenhill Green.
The same arrangements apply on route 402 between Bromley North and Knockholt Pound.

I've used the 402 when i had a free students oyster you simply showed the driver and were allowed on. If you have an adults oyster card the drivers sometimes carry a device that checks how much is on it and then charge you £1.35 cash fare.
You wouldnt be allowed to travel if you had a travel card on your oyster card as i doubt they can tell

You can use the 402 and 477 with a travelcard or bus pass loaded onto your oystercard
