TfL have announced that the North Circular Rd between the Waterworks and Charlie Browns Roundabouts is to be resurfaced. This means the 123 will be diverted while the work is happening. TfL Press ReleaseBizarrely the disruption info on the TfL website is wrong as it implies the work takes place from 0530 to 2100 rather than 2100 until 0530! Oh dear. It also doesn't say what roads and stops the 123 will serve on its diversion.

I know it turns off at Charlie Browns but I imagine there will be a lot of traffic.

I bet the 179 will suffer as well as a result of this. I know it turns off at Charlie Browns but I imagine there will be a lot of traffic. I think every route that goes anywhere near Woodford New Road, Chingford Road, Forest Road, South Woodford, Whipps Cross Road and Chigwell Road will be delayed for hours. Last buses will be way off schedule because the displacement of so much traffic will just jam things solid. The airport buses to Stansted will also be affected by this but they do have the option to divert via other routes. The carriageway is in a dire state and does need to be repaired so I don't object to the work but I think TfL are rather underestimating how far the impact will stretch. It's a shame that the road is constructed how it is in that area because there's little opportunity to put some contra flow working in place.
