This month, what's left of it, is 15 years since the Jubilee line extension fully opened.

No, the 1995 Tube Stock and the 1996 Tube stock will stay with the Northern Line and Piccadilly Line. The 1995 Tube stock are in the process of having a deep refurbishment. With blue poles, repaint, new flooring, new moquette, door buttons covered. The new Tube For London will replace the 1972, 1973 and 1992 tube stocks. It is sad for the 1992 stock to be going in 10 years time because they do have excellent acceleration and braking.

It is sad for the 1992 stock to be going in 10 years time because they do have excellent acceleration and braking. Much too young to be leaving. Like all things from the 1990's, they are the best! Don't know why I said that.

I doubt very much that the 92 stock will be gone in 10 years. The programme for the "New Tube for London" is still very fluid and all we know with any certainty is that the Picc Line is the first line to be upgraded. I've recently read that the Bakerloo Line may now be second in the queue rather than third. The real issue will be how the proposed extension to the Bakerloo proceeds. If this looks likely to happen sooner rather than in the last 2030s then you need to upgrade the Bakerloo earlier so it can have the extension tagged on. Politically I think the Bakerloo Line extension might become very important for the next Mayoral election and may even eclipse Crossrail 2 - there will be massive support in inner SE London for it to be built quickly. Until we see something approximating to a proper project scope and programme for any aspect of the new tube for London then I am very sceptical about the departure dates for any of the existing stock. I can see the 73 stock still being in service in the early to mid 2020s - there is just so much that can go wrong with the scope, financing the upgrade and procuring all the new assets.
