Last week,my brother was playing around with LVF after i showed him how to use it. As well as looking for T61 (Which is his favourite bus) He also asked me what route is the most frequent in London I Didn't know the answer to that question  , So thats why I'm asking you guys! Also, i didn't have enough space to put this in the title, but what route has the most PVR? |

Also, i didn't have enough space to put this in the title, but what route has the most PVR? There is a bit of a tie as to the most frequent route. Routes 12, 18, 25, 38, 73 and W7 all have a peak frequency of every 3-4 minutes although the 25 and 38 have sections with fewer buses. The W7 is the most frequent route that does not serve Zone 1. This is because it is effectively a tube line in disguise (would have been part of the Northern Line from Finsbury Park to Alexandra Palace via Crouch Hill and Muswell Hill). This is also why the W3 is frequent and very busy out of Finsbury Park. The 25 has the highest PVR - 60 buses. [ source of all info - londonbusroute.net ] |

The 38 once had a PVR of 70, didn't it? But has been lowered down to 59(?).

Correct but it was clear within a few months that it was a massive over-reaction to fears about loadings once the bendy buses went. TfL hedged their bets because it was the first conversion. A lot of the resource has been progressively removed from the route and I suspect they could probably take even more out. Allowing for some level of error in the numbers the 38 has seen a fall of 4.5m passenger jnys in 5 years. That's a big fall. In comparison the 25, also a former bendy route, has added 545,000 pass jnys in the same 5 year period. |

I wonder for now, if it would be wise to drop it back to how it was when it was Routemaster operated - correct me if I'm wrong but it had a PVR of 55 at that time? I thought it was 50 while the 73 had 55 RMLs but I can't be 100% certain. Given patronage is still 50% higher now than back in the early 2000s I am not certain taking another 9 buses off is the right answer. Maybe a few off peak when buses aren't full if you wanted to say some money but peak buses can still be very busy. |

It's also one of only 2 routes (school/mobility routes excepted) that doesn't run on Saturdays. |

What is the other route that doesn't run on Saturday? The X68. Yes that's the other fully TfL supported route that is M-F only. There is also one route, partly funded by TfL, that is also M-F only. The 812 local service in and around Islington run by CT Plus. |

What about the 603?
Although numbered in the 600s , it does run on Mondays to Fridays, not just schooldays.

Just because a route has a high PVR doesn't mean it has a high frequency too and vice versa. |
