This is my understanding. This is done such that routes which don't have a Sunday service can still operate The impression I have - and I may be mistaken - is that routes not on the list will operate "enhanced Sunday service". That is a Sunday level of frequency, but with first buses at or close to Monday-Saturday times and additional buses at what would be peak times to offer sufficient capacity for travellers to social-distance. Routes without Sunday service will operate to the Saturday timetable. The timetables won't be right for everybody - but the schedulers have done pretty d*mn well in the circumstances. And individual timetables can be adjusted in the light of experience. Bus scheduling has moved on a heck of a lot since I was involved in it (computerisation, for a start!) but it's still a science, perhaps with a bit of art thrown in sometimes.

I'm worry that some route don't start until Sunday first bus which not good for me as I need it for work. Can you give a lists and how sort out with some early cover? London Bus Routes has the list of routes that is going to have a Sunday service from next week, interestingly the 217 isn't on that list despite that Sullivans had mentioned it would have a Sunday service from next week.
The following is the provisional list of routes to operate Sunday services from Monday 30 March. Essentially these are the routes where the cut in daytime service is not too severe, where there are alternative parallel services, and where the first buses are at similar times to a weekday, though there are some anomalies. When I saw your post, I thought of this: etheses.whiterose.ac.uk/1053/1/uk_bl_ethos_277275.pdfA brilliant article and if you have the time, well worth a read. Manual scheduling was used on the London Underground until only about 10 years ago - indeed these days night duties are compiled manually (including Night Tube lines) with the computer system working on daytime schedules with the parts left around these. Even with computer schedules to assist there is a lot of work to do (for example I was shown the Circle & Hammersmith line computer schedule for a Saturday - the computer took 2.5 hours to process this with 1.25 MILLION combinations of shifts to work with, the compiler needs to do a lot of whittling down to the final version!) - I know this may not be posted in the best place but looking at the comment of science and art, seemed reasonable

The 241 may need to be left as it is for now with the announcement of NHS Nightingale Hospital

TfL has now updated Bus changes webpage Routes now in blocks of 20, with which days timetables being used on different days of week tfl.gov.uk/modes/buses/bus-changesFor routes with no normal Sunday service, it says running a normal Sunday service, rather than saying the more useful, no Sunday service.

• 296 routes are running "a Saturday service on Monday to Saturdays and a normal Sunday service on Sundays."
• 54 routes are running "a Sunday service on all days of the week." • 140 routes are running "a Sunday service with extra journeys in the morning on all days of the week."
• 49 routes are running "a Sunday service with extra journeys in the morning on Monday to Fridays and a Sunday service on Saturday and Sundays."
• 6 routes are running "a Sunday service with extra journeys in the morning on Monday to Saturdays and a normal Sunday service on Sundays." • Route 521 is operating "a special service on Monday to Friday with no service on Saturdays or Sundays."
• Route 969 is running normally (on Tuesdays and Fridays) • Route X68 is withdrawn until further notice.

Oh my god, what the hell is wrong with TfL bloody running even more routes less frequency, this is stupid just because of stupid Covid-19 which should never even have existed and in two weeks I want to ride buses again! I’m going to be really harsh here as I think this is a rare moment for it but your post is stupid - do yourself a favour and think of the wider society first rather than of yourself. I’ve been bed-ridden potentially from Covid-19 since Sunday and all you care about is stupid bus rides. Apologies to everyone else but I won’t tolerate drivel like that.
