Wrong decision, IMO.

The only realistic decision they could have reached. You either allow buggies on the bus or you don't, once on board you cannot turf them off mid journey.

It is not very well known but in London if a wheelchair user can't get on the first 2 buses a taxi is ordered by the company.

And isn't it open to abuse?

Never heard of that, one of those urban rumours I reckon........... I have not heard about it in respect of the bus network. However if lifts are out of service for an accessible tube journey then a person in a wheelchair will be put in a taxi for the journey. I had direct experience of that with lift problems when I worked for LU - someone in a wheelchair who worked at City Hall used to kick up a hell of a stink if lifts were broken. That usually resulted in the Mayor calling Tim O'Toole and you can imagine the rest. The policy, though, is for anyone in a wheelchair not just people with a direct line to "God".

And isn't it open to abuse? Was mentioned in my CPC course a few months ago while at Camberwell. One of the MB ibus controllers was doing the course and mentioned it. Its ibus that calls the Taxi, but hes been doing for a number of years and has never done it.
