Personally, I ha e always advocated for improvements at both Gatwick and Manchester to create three UK hubs. One serving the north of the country and two serving the south. We shouldn’t be reliant on Heathrow as airlines need alternatives to remain competitive. Upgrading both Manchester and Gatwick would save a fortune and would add real capacity. I think I remember reading a report that said a third runway and sixth terminal would be filled almost instantly and wouldn’t actually create many slots at Heathrow. A hub in the north would help the people there by avoiding them travelling to London for many destinations. It doesn’t guarantee that airlines would want to fly to Manchester but if there were incentives it would help.

At least that's one good thing in 2020 alongside Trump finally being kicked out.

At least that's one good thing in 2020 alongside Trump finally being kicked out. All it means is the ban is lifted, no guarantee that it will actually go ahead.
